Works pretty much tht way on the PA80 as well. It can mix individual parts from any style or variation and it allows step recording of songs by chord and b y variation of style or multiple styles. It isn't that much different than what my Motif does.

If I remember correctly the MZ-2000 also allowed you to mix the patterns...

Yes Squeak, I believe it did. It also did the step record "chain" type thing, almost exactly as the PA80 does it. I would love it if Yamaha made a plug in board to turn my Motif into an arranger. That would be thje best of both worlds for me.
