Hello:

The Korg PA50 is relative a new keyboard, the PA 50 is a current model.
The Roland G1000 is a great keyboard, but is from the mid 90s...so, is a descontinued model, even still sounds good, but is an older technology. The MAP of the PA 50 is $999.00 and the G1000, well, ebay probably can tell you, but depends in the conditions, usage, etc...If it was for me, is most likely that I go for the PA50, warranty, support, parts....I hope it helps you.

the pa50 is a scaled down version of the pa80, and you would only really buy it if you were on a very restrictive budget..alternatives could be the roland g7 (smaller brother to the g70), the exr-7 (with 76 keys) exr-5 with 61 keys, the newer casio WK series are also up there in value for money and sound..maybe the yammi not sure what the pricing for a 3000 would be where you are....hope that helps

dennis,
peace, out

I don't agree with the statement that the PA50 is just a scaled down version of the PA80. Actually the PA50 is just like the PA80 but for less than 1/2 the price and only doesn't have the ability to make your own samples using the 8MB flash card.
Also, there is no G7 as a small brother to the G70. If the person posting is talking about the GW7, this is nothing like the G70 but more like the EXR5 but with the addition of ethnic styles and sounds.
I sell all of the mentioned keyboards and the PA50 is a huge success in my store. Great value for the dollar for professional styles and sounds and a great 16 track sequencer that can be programmed in real or step time or first record the entire style and right hand sound and then be able to go back in and record the unused tracks over these.
I sell the PA50 and the EXR7 for under $999.00. I like the styles better on the Korg than the roland G1000 and since the Roland G1000 is now several years old I would doubt if you will be able to get parts much longer if something goes wrong.

You are asking me???

There is no doubt which of the two are better...One has better features including storage media that works in a way that you can quickly find a SMF, Style or Performances when you need them..instantly..the same board has for the most part better sounds...this same board plays SMF's better[best of all boards], besides a complete 16 track sequencer , it has a chord sequencer and a quick song sequencer...It is Super easy to edit the sequences, even while playing...You can search a song while playing in arranger mode and vise versa......better real time controls, including after touch, velocity switching etc..
As for styles...a style is a style....this board will play any converted style including the other guy, and still sound good...This board does not depend on over done effects to sound good... I could go on and on...By far this board has a better key feel[the best of all]......but you get the idea...

I wonder which board I picked!!!

sound and efx wise(except for ac piano)PA sounds much better than g1000 IMHO and I'm sure most will agree.+more synth editing power(in a sub 2000$ arranger KBs)it's sure hard to beat.

g on the other hand it's older tech, better keys, and ofcourse harder to get rid of(with a reasonable price) if you want to upgrade.

by the way PA has 2 seq play(ie you can play SMFs non stop ,even do volume crossfades ,play one SMF stop in the middle, play other etc).
