I use a pair of Carvin 12's most of the time for outside patio jobs of around 400 all the time. Often, I use 4 12's, but thats because I have people front, back and both sides of the bandstand.

The 12's have plenty of bottom. With two Yamaha 200 watt heads, there is more than enough volume, but that's because I'm playing dinner music.

Enough volume doesn't always mean enough coverage. I think you should use a sub if you have 200 people or more, especially if it is a concert setting not a dinner music setting. A really loud smoke alarm is annoying, even if it is loud. Same goes with speakers that are loud enough but the full body of the sound isn't there.

I'm sorry Luis, I always screw up the number of that sub. It's actually Sb121a. I don't see the 'a' in the product lineup, but the Sb121 is there and the specs look the same.

Of course the EV Sxa360s can handle 200 people on their own. And if you ad a sub it will free up the SXa360s from having to handle the bass and then the SXa360s will be able to concentrate on delivering improved mids and highs.
