Hi,
I.m Dave from the U.k.

I've found more info on the Yamaha Tyros on Yamaha Germany's website:
http://www.yamaha-europe.com/yamaha_euro...YROS/index.html

Click on the links 'Features' and 'Specifications' for the info.

Enjoy.

Dave.

This is more informative than I suspected. I've kinda been under the impression that the Tyros featured all-new voices that had been reworked with the much-touted Megavoice technology... not so apparently, maybe, I dunno. If you look at the specifications for the Tyros, there is only ten new voices... it says: 393 Normal + 10 Mega voices. Am I reading this right? Under "Mega Voices" are: Steel Guitar, Hi String Gtr, 12Str Guitar, Clean Guitar, Overdrive, Distortion, Acoustic Bass, Finger Bass, Pick Bass, Fretless Bass. That's it. Then you have the Live!, Sweet! and Cool! voices that seem to be the same as the ones listed on the 9000 series.

So the BIG question: Is there just TEN new Mega Voice sounds and the rest are the same voices from the 9000's? Can it be? So all we're really getting that's completely new on the Tyros is six guitars and four basses ?
I remember George Kaye saying that Yamaha had also reworked the XG voices so I trust that much has happened, but only 10 Mega Voices dedicated to guitars and basses is hardly what I expected. Somebody tell me otherwise...

The Tyro's MEGA voice technology is explained by listening to a style called
"UNPLUGGED" . You hear better guitar imulation with this new style and Yamaha goes on to say that due to MEGA Voice ...the guitar sound is more realistic .

I do not think the sounds from TYRO's are categorized as MEGA VOICE ...only in how they designed the newest styles .

I spent a little bit of time with the tyro's at trade show . George K. received a more 1 on 1 demonstration . Perhaps he can clear this up .

George K is also going to get a price this week as well .

I've been to the tyros official presentation. There are only 10 mega voices as stated. The mega voices are multisamples in velocity terms having open and mute string sound with pick noises and slide effects etc for the guitars. It is most effective in the programmed backings, it is not clear if exactly the same sound can be produced by live playing, but the sound is undoubtedly very good.

The main difference to 9000 and pro are the styles which are very much superior and much closer to the competition now in range and realism.

It only weighs 12.5 kg so will be popular with giggers. In the UK the price is £2,400 without speakers, £2,600 with speakers

Well today it works out as $3,766 without speakers and $4,080 with speakers approx. This is the UK recommended price.

If this price is correct in the US, they just lost me as a buyer. That is over the top for me without it being a true combination arranger / workstation, with the functions of both such as arps etc. And I really want one of these too. To me it's not a question of can I afford it, it's a matter of value and I do not see $4000.00 + here.

Without speakers and sampler the Tyros should be cheaper than the introduction price of PSR9000. If not, something is seriously wrong.
