Yes, the update is there. Go to this link: http://www.ketron.it/home.htm Click the British Flag if English is your spoken language, click the Update 4.0a link, then scroll to the bottom of the page for the files.
It is interesting that on the description of new improvements etc., that it says that the Polyphony has been increased but they don't specify by how much. From 64 to what? Maybe Dan01 can shed some light on this.
PS: Seems pretty tedious to do the update. But by following the instructions exactly from their "How-to" there should be no problem. All you SD1 owners please fill us in to the improvements, and/or enhancements that the Update 4.0a offers once you install it and give it a test drive. I look forward to hearing the results!
Best regards, Mike

The sounds just sound fantastic : The Epiano's are free of noise and all of them have a better defined sound. The organs, guitars.... EVERYTHING is great !
Styles have a perfect timing now and some changed completely to the best I ever heard.
See the list of improvements on the Ketron website.
Ketron made my dream come out and did a superb job !!

Here's one big important improvement and I've tried it and it works perfectly now. I think it was Mario who needed this function fixed before he would consider any new Ketron product. "Keyboard Harmony- The Harmony feature has been optimised such that notes (especially on percussive instruments) are no longer generated when keys played on the right hand side within a chord are released." If you try this with acoustic piano for example, there is no longer the extra notes played when you release your fingers. George Kaye Kaye's Music Scene Reseda, California

I also noticed that problem since I bought my SD1. I'm glad the new OS will fix that!

It took about an hour to do. I had no problems the instructions were perfect! The difference is immediate, you know it has been improved. The guitar and EP sounds have been improved the most!!! All the X1 carry over styles(in flash memory) have been improved. Midi files sound better! The keyboard velocity/feel is more expressive (this I could feel and hear right away). What Ketron has done is amazing!!! Giving their customers this "GIFT" after the Keyboard has been out over TWO YEARS!!! All the KB's that were introduced when the SD1 came out are HISTORY, from a support aspect! Their replacements have been introduced. Thank You AJ and Thank You Ketron!!!!!!!

I asked AJ today how much more polyphony has been added to the SD1 with 4.0 and his answer was up to 15 additional voices for the voice section. I'm not sure what up to 15 means but it sounds good! George Kaye Kaye's Music Scene Reseda, California

I'll re-ask my question here: how come that after installing the new OS my old registrations are still there? Have I done something wrong? I have even tried to load a file called "Standard.reg" in the new Standard folder, but apparently nothing happened. Does the new OS come with totally new registrations? Did I miss anything? Thanks in advance.

You need to post this question to AJ. I would suggest doing it on the Ketron discussion forum on the BBS section. George Kaye Kaye's Music Scene Reseda, California
