You gotta see "Ray Charles:Unchain My Heart".
Jamie Foxx is Oscar-bound for sure...and, while there are a lot of flashbacks, the story is very well told. The music? It's Ray. What more can I say.

Hi Eddie, this film is at the top of my 'must see' movies. After reading your enthusiatic review, I'm now gonna make an extra effort to go out and see it right away.

On another note, I recently purchased and highly recommend this newly released Ray Charles CD entiled: Genius Loves Company:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/det...=music&n=507846

Amazon.Com is currently offering this album along with Peter Cincotti's new vocal/piano jazz CD (also highly recommended by me): "On The Moon": http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/det...=music&n=507846

Get BOTH of them FOR $24.98

I love every cut on that CD excpet the duet with James Taylor. BIG SURPRISE for me !
I don't like the song OR the performance, and I'm a huge Taylor fan too.
The album to the movie is great - it's "real" Ray .... I guess they used his actual recordings in the movie too, huh?
They did that with a Carpenters movie a while back. Cynthia Gibbs was a pretty good look-a-like for Karen, but NO ONE can do the voice right. Two of my all time fav's for sure.

Just a note on James Taylor and unrelated to his duet with Ray Charles..

I'm a huge fan of his voice, but did you catch his performance of the Star Spangled Banner during the World Series Game in Boston? I think that was a first for him? Anyway, I thought he did a good job, maybe not on the Whitney Huston level, but inspiring nonetheless. His guitar playing is also very tasty.

YEAH ! I was watching with the sound muted at work that night! I knew he'd do it justice. Meatloaf did a bang up job at the all star game a few years back too.

Thank goodness they've got the sense not to ask Rosanne Barr back again!

My one big gift to society is that I've never sung the National Anthem in public.

One of the highlights of my career was singing our National Anthym at Vet stadium for the Phillies and Mets in 1984.
I was in awe of the crowd, the field, the echo....oh....oh....oh....ohhh
(almost 2 full seconds yikes !)

My Mom has it on VHS somewhere. I should transfer it to DVD this Christmas for my kids.

Shboom - the B3's gone already !
Now I'm in the "gotta sell this Tyros" mode !

I hate to disagree but I love the JT song!! And I am a BIG JT fan. The whole album is a REAL treat. The one cut I like the least is the one with Willie Nelson, "It was a very good year". Great song, just did nothing for me.

Which is it?

It is a bit confusing. On TV they advertise it as "Ray". The studio says:
"Also Known As:
Unchain My Heart: The Ray Charles Story (2004) (USA) (working title)"

I just call it GREAT!
