Hey Folks,
The wife likes to sing karaoke on friday nighta, so the PSR2000 has it's double duties. I went searching for songs and found this site. Has a bunch of songs. I'll find out tonight about the quality. But it has a ton of titles. Just passing what I found along to my arranger buddies.. http://www.koolpages.com/karaoke/index.html

Hi DJ, thanks for sharing the midi files with the forum. They songs sounds great but I didn't see any lyrics on anyone of them when playing it back on my PSR-9000. How do I get the lyrics to display on the 9000?

Thank you very much
Johnny

On the 9K, you'll have to convert the files to Tune 10000-style format. GNMidi is a great program with which to do this. You can try it free, and it is quite inexpensive if you decide to keep it.

Hi,
They do sound good. You have to rename the file extention from. *.mid to *.kar. If you read the main page he explains it. After unzipping right click on the file, then click rename and delete the .mid and rename it (what ever the song tiltle is).kar, as long as the .kar is at the end your file, the keyboard will know what type of file to use.

Unless they have upgraded the OS on the 9000, the keyboard only reads .mid files and they must have the lyrics on the correct channel. The 2000 reads both .kar and .mid files.

Interesting... I had the same problem with my X1 where in order to display lyrics i had to run a utility called Kar2Mid which does the trick BUT the lyrics normally are squashed. If there is a better way of enabling lyrics via the sequencer, i wouldnt need to use the utility, so does anybody know what channel the .kar files stores the lyrics and what i need to set it to? Because when i load a song in the X1's sequencer, the channels are normally set to "all"....

Hi all you Pros, would this midi files show the lyrics on the Tyros? Does the Tyros play karaoke files (.kar) with lyrics? Thank you all so much.

Hi:
To see lyrics all you have to do is change
the Format from 1 to 0. If you use Midi
Convert you can accomplish this in short
order. Don't ask me why it works, it just
does.

I tried GNmidi and it did not work for me. I tried to rename the file myself and it only allows you to rename the song title not the filetype. What am I doing wrong? Also is there any program that will allow me to just change the song format from midi 1 to midi 0?

Please advise.

Thank you!

Hi, I am in a hurry, but this is a good program to convert .Kar to .mid, and vice versa, the thing is that this is a shareware programe and it is for evalution only so it is suppose to work for anout 5 days, but if you clean everything up and re install it it will work.
This is the site to download it from: http://www.gnmidi.com/

Enjoy.
Tony.
