I just found a new way for me to play my old style of using walking Bass and right hand paino and Drums using psr9000.

I don't light up accompliment ... pick any style and only drums will play.

Then put Bass on LOWER Part Select and Paino in Upper part select.

Reminds me of the days when all I had was a drum machine and xp80 or werlizer.

I'm learning new stuff about this keyboard every time I turn it on.

That's my favorite way to play. The Yamaha does it very well too. I'm having a harder time getting the PA80 to behave well in that situation though. There are lots of anomolies that are making me crazy.
For instance:
The dedicated "manual bass" button has too many drawbacks for my style of play, so I wrote a "lower" sound for the bass ..... that's great UNLESS you use an "ending" to a drum rhythm . the lower sound shuts off! Totally stupid feature.

uncle dave!
You reminded me the last month about the style I played for years (left hand basss , right chord, with basic drums)... so I tried it on the psr9000 ...brought back memories.

The drums are in improvement to the drum machines of past... especailly with the breaks, ect ... and I can throw in MULTIPADS for guitar stum, or scants or assorted other stuff.
Keep it Simple!
And it seems more live as a jazz trio or lounge act! LOL

Last night I played an entire job with NO auto parts .... just me as the piano and bass and I used the "drummer in a can" !
The jazz trio sound with vocal is still my favorite ... especially in smaller, more intimate situations. The electronic stuff sounds best at louder volumes anyway. In a quiet setting, the arrangers sound even more artificial to me.
