No genysis yet i really would prefer a 76 note version but it dosent look like there will be one so i may have to settle for a 61 note no speakers jobby. Here in the UK they wont be about till end of april so knowing Italy that will be october november. Ive heard it sounds very good. Dont like the look of the home version but the 61 note with no speakers looks ok.

I have s2, sk76, wk4, wk8, RP200 piano and a ketron sd1

Hello Dazza,

Nice collection of keyboards ya got there. Care to do a comparison of your Ketron SD1 and GEM WK8?

mike

PS. I own the WK8...Had it for about 4 years now. I've got the itch for something new.

Thank you EVERYONE, and specially Dazza

The problem I had with the wk8 installation of the 32 mg Simms has been resolved. I reversed the jumpers and it worked, everything is working except the vocalizer, which is no big deal as I was told

Once again thanks

Can we get this correct, you can't use the extra ram and vocal processor? it is one or the other ? or have I missed a bit?

That is my experience. I installed the vocal processor and the 8megs of backed dram myself. And I found out that the holder of two simms are used for either memory simms or vocal processor chips, which come with the vocal processor card.

Basically, you cannot have both and that is the reason there is a jumper and that is the reason the user ashraf amir had problems. The only way to install those is to disable the vocal processor.

Now I might be wrong of course. But that is my experience.

It is poosible to have both working. I will explain once i find an easy way of writing it. he memory simms in the keyboard slots with the vocal processor are just for buffer memory. they do nothing else. You are right in saying they need to be there. However if 32mb of simms are installed then the buffer is still there as it uses these simms. The reason you having difficulties is all down to the jumper configuration. I will dig my service manual out and tell you exactly what needs to be where. If you go to the general page and click system info you will see descriptive of what you have ie voaltile sample ram/backed sample ram/v processor present. this tells you whats in there and whats working by denoting present by it.

i will try to look today with the answer. i have a WK8 here and everything works with 32mb of ram installed

Dazza,
Is it possible to make this procedure public?

I myself wanted to do the same thing and I thought it was not possible. But if it is possible, let everybody know how to do it.

Thanks.
