I need your honest comments here. In just a few minutes I'm going to post a song I started working on this morning. It is FAR from completion.
Here's the thing. I sing a lot of R&B and Hip Hop. However I have a love for ALL styles of music. One style I happen to like a great deal is Country Music. I have never really taken a full shot at trying to sing country considering my voice is really of the R&B flavor.
Well I took a shot! I recorded using the Fostex MR-8 (8 track digital)--Seriously folks..check this unit out if you get the chance! Anyways, it's just 4 tracks (one) of acoustic guitar, one lead vocal, and two harmony tracks (no harmonizer was used, just my voice singing both parts, all using the built in internal condensor mic on the Fostex).
I guess it's not hard country to say, but I tried to add a bit of a country twist to the lead vocal part. I played it for several friends, who all said it doesn't sound like ME at all. The vocals were really hard for me to do because I had to change my voice to do this song. There is still A LOT of work to do on it. It's simple 2 chord progression (with light finger picking and some strumming). I sang it straight because I'm still writing the chorus.
Anyways be as BRUTUALLY honest as you can.... I'm a big boy I can take it

Should I continue or basically give it up and keep my day job?
The song will be posted shortly. I have to transfer from the Fostex to PC then convert to MP3
