Anyone have any idea how much the PSR-1100 will be around Febuary of next year.. I know it's a long shot question, but I'm curious. I was talking to the wife, and it seems that I can buy a new keyboard in Febuary. I like my PSR-550 but really want an internal sequencer and more variations with styles and better speakers, so I've been heavily eyeballing the PSR-1000. However I wonder if the 1000 will be hard to find new by Febuary... So If it's not I wonder if the price of the 1100 will drop down considerably by then. Music123 is selling PSR-1000's for only $749.00, and I think that's a great deal. I personally do not like the color scheme for the PSR-1100, but it does have 16mbs of sound, and increased memory for recording, but I wonder what its price will be by Feb.. Anyone have a guess on it...???

You'd be so much better off with a used PSR2000. More styles, more voices, more flash memory, vocal harmonizer, organ flutes. You'll be able to pick up one of those for even less.

Why someone would buy a PSR1100 when there are still new PSR2000s out there for the same price boggles my mind. There is absolutely no advantage to the PSR1100. It has a few styles the PSR2000 doesn't have, but overall the PSR2000 has more styles.

I understand what you're saying, but there are features on the 2000 I really wouldn't use. Example: the vocalizer.., I sing all my own harmonies. Granted the 2000 has drawbars, I really wouldn't use them much. I don't run into poly isues with 32 either.. I know the 2000 and 2100 are good arrangers, but for my needs the 1000 or 1100 would be more sufficient.

THe used PSR 2000 is the way to go. The extra features will come in handy from time to time but more importantly when the time comes to sell or trade, the 2000 will win the day.

In the two years the PSR1000 and PSR2000 were available I only sold 2 PSR1000's to dozens of PSR2000's. When a customer would purchase the 1000 and read the owners manual and see what they were missing, the extra $200 or so dollars seemed like a bargain.
As to the price in February, you should expect the price to be exactly what it is today. With Yamaha, every two years is the turnover time and they do not reduce prices to their dealers unless the new model is arriving and there are too many old ones left. The only exception to this was last year for just one month, Yamaha reduced the dealer cost of the PSR2000 by $100.00 but right after that month ended, the price went right back up again.
If a dealer is selling their remaining PSR1000's for $795.00 and a new PSR1100 is selling for $895.00 I would still think the 1100 to be the better value because you get USB connectivity and the notation function from the PSR2000/2100 are now included. However, be reminded that the polyphony of the PSR1000/1100 is still just 32 voice and the PSR2000/2100 is 64 voice and if you are buying as you said for an internal sequencer, I would sure think the 64 voice should be a must have for you.

Thanks everyone for your replies. George you make some good points, but agian it falls down to individual needs... I can totally understand 1000 owners seeing what they're missing by not buying the 2000. Believe me I understand this.. I used to have the MZ-2000, and that too had the drawbars, and 64 voice poly. Thing is that I don't run into poly problems with 32 notes... The 1000 or 1100 for me will be a huge plus over what I have because of the internal sequencer, and more indepth style recorder, and L&R outputs.. I'm going nuts with the 550's headphone/output jack because it's too noisy when I record to external gear. Also not having a vocalizer or drawbars won't hold me back.. I sing all my own harmonies. I'm fortunate to have a large vocal range.... I used to get teased in school because of that too... In concerts I'd be singing with the guys in the baritone section, and for the next song I'd have to scurry over to the ladies and sing saprano with them... The 1000 or 1100 will be more than enough for me.. I use the keyboards sequencer for backing tracks, record those all down to an external sequencer, then record live guitar tracks, and then throw my vocals in with it.... I know the 2000 is a good home keyboard, but I really consider it a performing keyboard. Just look at what the guys here are doing with their 2000's and 2100's... Lot's of talent here...... For my needs (since I don't perfrom anymore), the 1000 or 1100 should be fine... I honestly would prefer the 1100 but it will depend on which one I can afford at the time... Either way in Feb I'll be getting one or the other... Again thanks..

Squeak. Not only do you get the vocalizer, polyphany, and drawbars which you say you wouldn't use, but with the PSR2000, you get some great sweet! and cool! voices that the PSR1100 doesn't have. And you get more flash memory and more internal styles, so for the same price, why would you go with the PSR1100????

You're making everyone upset of your choice of PSR1100/PSR1000. That is just not wise ! For only couple hundreds, you get lots more. Buy used one. I bought mine for $550 (PSR2000), perfectly conditioned.

I understand where you guys are coming from, Now of course if I find a used PSR-2000 (in near perfect condition) for less than a new 1000 or 1100 of course I'll buy it... Either way I'd still be happy with the 1000 or 1100 just because of the internal sequencer, voice editing, 4 variations, way more pedal assignment options (like modulation), better speakers and many more things. We'll see what happens in Feb. If I find a used PSR that's in near perfect condition for less I'll buy it, but if not it will be either the 1000 or 1100..

I own a PSR550 as well, and if I were to upgrade it would be KN2600 or PSR2000/2100 or PSR2200

Dave the KN2600 is only a few hundred dollars more then the PSR2100...It isn't in the 7000 price range[the list is around $2200]..

Oh right ! KN 2600, NOT the Kurzweil 2600! My bad. Sorry folks ! I missed the prfix!
