I have the impression that about a third of the PSR-S900's are coming in defective.

It could be that people who have defective ones are squeaking louder than the happy campers.

There is definitely a quality control problem.

One problem is that the diagnostic test that Yamaha has to find problems did not uncover the problems on the two defective keyboards that I possessed.

Could it be that Yamaha is included in the great China Recall along with all the other
defect items that have been coming in...hehe

I got my S900 last night no problems so far, the piano sounds great.

Ill get back with some of my thoughts later.

I'm almost afraid to say that I have no problems with my new 900. I have 2 weeks of jobs under my belt and all works perfectly. I haven't tried everything because I play arranger style only, but I do use all the variations, ots, registrations, mixing, etc.

This is scary news though.........

And most likely they will sell those to some unwary buyers also.

When the refurbished models start showing up for $900, maybe I'll be interested. Until then I'll keep looking for a PSR3K. Anyone?

seriously though, i did post a while ago that i had heard on the grapevine that yamaha held back the original release of the s900 units because of hardware "issues", must have been true.

You certainly did, Miden. But since when does anyone listen here?

(Kidding, guys!) Enjoy your S900!

Truly a disappointment to hear about all the quality control problems going on with the S900. I recommend US S900 customers with problems to contact Yamaha USA right away and address your concerns to Steve Deming:

Hey cassp,

I have been looking all over the place for a Y3K , and no luck.

I e-mailed Yamaha and asked if they could sell me one out right , or at least give a good referral.

The response Yamaha gave me was " try eBay , becuase there hasn`t been any PSR-3000 `s for a few months"

So I guess if Yamaha is telling me to go to eBay...

Well you get the point.

Best of luck in your search , if you find two that is brand new still sealed in the box , let me know I`ll take one !!

Later,
Gary
