mango. The PSR5700 was a great keyboard in its time. My friend has only just sold his after many years of happy playing. It must be 8 to 10 year old now, but is still very nice to play and can be obtained used for about £250 UK pounds.
When new the 5700 was more expensive than a PSR2100 is now, however you can't compare this or any other older models from Yamaha because technology moves on. The PSR2000 or 2100 have far better voice samples and facilities and they sound a little nearer the real thing. But for anyone wanting a low cost outlay used board the PSR5700 can still perform very well.

I have to echo Graham's statements about the 5700. I had two of them, paid $3,200 for each, and at the time, there were the best keyboard you could get your hands on. The piano sounds were superior to any, and it sounded almost like a baby grand. The vibe sounds were outstanding, as was the harmonica voice, but the sax sounds were just plain awful. It only has 35 styles, and while there are thirds party styles availble, most of those were not very good. It has a built-in, 50-watt amp that really sounds good, but it was still not powerful enough to perform small venues.

As for comparison to the 2000/2100 there is none. While the piano sounds were better, all the other features, voices, styles and attributes of the 2000/2001 makes them the best keyboard for the money on the planet IMO. And, for the performing musician, the navigation of the 2000, plus very rapid access of the disk styles and registrations make this the keyboard of choice. Right out of the box, you'll find yourself loving this board. I was among the first in the mid-Atlantic region to buy a 2000 and though I play it every day and night, I'm still discovering things that were not in the instruction maual that make it sound even better than anyone would have believed possible.

Hope this is of some help in making your decission,

Gary

Thanks,
Guess i need to bite down and shell out the extra dough!!! By the way since i have much outboard midi gear etc > Does the psr 2000 sync to outboard modules? Is it GM compatable and lastly what about a arranger/style module without a keyboard?
Some one mentioned the Keytron. Does yamaha or roland make one. I Love the keyboard action on my Ensoniq ZR and would love to have a style arranger that would work with its keyboard.
Thanks again ,
Mango

It's a pity old 5700 had a better piano voice!!!!. Why Yamaha make now a worse piano voice?

I believe it had something to do with the design of the new keyboard's sampling technique and sound engine. The same seems to hold true for the vibes voice as well.
The 5700 had fantastic vibes, and in the hands of a skilled player, it was difficult to detect any difference between the 5700 and the real McCoy.

Anyone want one? I retired my 5700 for the 9000, a 740 and a couple of 2000s. Since then it has been resting in a custom road case I had made for it.

If anyone is interested, I will set it up and make sure it is still operating properly. Its been so long since I played it I will probably have to drag out the manual.

Sorry people,

I remember this keyboard and it sucks. Features-wise was very good, but sounds-wise, I was not impressed... not for the price at that time.

Just an opinion of course
