Well folks I'm out for good this time..... I came back after dealing with some crap before from members here, but I just can't accept a forum of musicians who so clearly are prejudiced towards my styles of music.

It's no secret that the music of choice on this forum is BigBand, Jazz, Country, and a few other styles. Talk about anything new age, rap, hip hop, r&b, and other styles of electronica and it brings out the ignorance in the members here.

I've been a musician since I was five years old. I've been playing for just over 25 years now. I listen to EVERYTHING I can get my hands on and am always interested in checking out other styles of music. If you saw my CD collection it would make you crap--it consists of everything from timeless classics to bluegrass, country, classical, rap , hip hop, R&B, and many other styles of music.

This forum just doesn't share my interests. There are many closed minded individuals here, as well as "closet cased biggots".

Peace.

Why don't you hang around for discussion about this and that and find other forums that ARE interested in listening to hiphop/rap/electronica? Are you expecting too much? Consider the average age and nationality here. You can't expect this demographic to like those genres. Just put your tunes up elsewhere!

Squeak_d,

Whew, I'm glad your not talking about me, because I love and Play new age, hip hop, R&b, Jazz, etc.

What's your beef? Did someone attack you or something? With thousands of opinions on this board, your rarely find many that share your same loves of styles of music. However, we all share the same love of MUSIC and thus we are all brethren.

Please reconsider Squeak, there are already too many good people leaving this board.

Hey Squeak, do what ever cools you off and stick around friend. I thought many here didn't liked jazz, swing and my old Fats Domino and Ray Charles stuff. I thought there were a lot of hip hoppers and rappers here. Goes to show what I know.

I remember when you helped me a lot and I appreciate it still. I enjoy seeing your name here and I don't care if you play country all night. Ha! Ha!

I thought Tom Cavanaugh and I with the swing and old standards were the odd balls here. Stick around friend and ignore the things you don't like about the forum.

Many members are now contending this way with the forum. I thought UD and I were the only ones here allowed to squabble and we gave that up eons ago.

To be honest, I don't even listen to anyone's music on the forum. Nobody here plays like the guys that I want to listen to and also it takes too long to download the songs.

I'm here for the money. If I can learn how to get gigs and keep up with the technology etc., that's what I'm interested in. There are no Bill Evans, McCoy Tyner's, Getz, Coleman Hawkins or other music greats here that should be bragging that they play better or that their music is better than anyone else's.

In the past when I did download some tunes, I heard terrible chords on some of the intricate standards and it turned me off. Sometimes I think that only a few of the guy's here on the forum are familiar with a flatted 5th or a flatted ninth that is common throughout any standard fake book on earth.

I don't have to like your music and you don't have to like mine. All I have to like is you friend.
Hope you change your mind,
Boo.

Squeak, I too would like to see you reconsider your opinion.

We are about the same age (I think you are 2-3 years younger than me), and guess what?
I have never heard 95% of the songs or composers that get posted/mentioned here. Plus, coming from another country, my musical roots are TOTALLY different from you and most of the guys/girls here. Jazz is just a four letter foreign word for me.

Yet, I find this forum and discover a pool of knowledge for every aspect of music imaginable to me. That is what keeps me here.

I am sorry to see you go, but if your leaving is something caused by a personal attack, I think you should contact Nigel about it and don't just simply leave.

squeak ...
Consider the age of many members of this forum and it is understandable where our musical interests lie ... and I didn't think I was ignorant because I don't appreciate certain types of music ...

My CD and ALBUM collection might make you "crap" too, although I hope not in my living room !!! ... as for the types of music in my collection compared to yours - 6 out of 8 isn't bad ...

And send me an e-mail 30 years from now when you are 65 yrs old (as I am), and let me know what you think of the 'music of the day' .....

... and with your departure, aren't you acting just like the "closed minded people" you are talking about? ...
... and as for your last comment - NO COMMENT ...

PEACE, Friend... May your travels take you to happier places ...

Squeak, I'm 54 and when I look at some of the old vinyl records I have I can't understand why in the world I was a Led Zeplin fan or why I listened to Iron Butterfly. At the time I thought my parents were crazy listening to Frank Sinatra or Sammy Davis Jr. Go figure, guess I just turned into an old fart without realizing it

There must be a reason the "Great American Songbook" and its vocalists have lived through all the 'fad' music of the day ... OK, The Beatles and The Stones, etc. weren't exactly fads, but you get my point

Squeak.....
Sorry to see leave SZ, you've always been a stand up guy & I for one always enjoyed reading your submissions. You make very valid points & being happy with your music always comes first in an atmosphere that it is appreciated. As I dont post much here anymore myself & have become somewhat of a lurker like many others that have emailed me, but I enjoy reading posts when I'm off. I hope to find you elsewhere so we could still exchange & discuss musical ideas....you have my email.

Stay well my friend.

Squeak, not to give advice but....sometimes enlightening your detractors works better in the long haul than avoiding them. You can start by getting ME to like RAP...gonna be an uphill battle tho' . Sorry man, it's an age thing.

Peace,

chas

Squeak,
As the others have noted and ...

You don't need to slam the door shut because of a few that don't agree and for a few that might choose to comment abrasively (when there's 1000 different ways to make the same point)

Heck, look what goes on in public or out on the road... You'd have to then leave the planet.

Stephenm52,
A fart is a fart (new or old)

Dang it Squeak,
I thought I had you converted when you opened that "Digital Accordion" thread.

Squeak....I sometimes feel like I'm the "odd man out", because I disagree with many things I hear/read here. But the one thing I value is commitment and opinions. You surely have both, and I admire that. Even though I'm probably twice your age, your input has substance, heart and value.

That's why I wish you would hang around.

Squeak, Wow, you do sound angry.

I was born in 1931. Do you have any idea what I have been listening to for the first 25 years of my life? With that background it is logical for me to dislike your kind of music --- with a passion.

As my father who was also musician, hated the way I played my music.
I think I play well, you may not like it --- so what.

Now having said all that here’s my game.

1-I may dislike something you say or do but it is not personal. You are still Squeak the man I liked the first time I read you posts!!!! – That does not change.

2-I am open to your type of music – but I do not understand where it’s coming from – it’s strange to me. Soooooo, help me out, don’t just sit there, give me something to hold on to. Am I listening with the wrong tools?

OK, Here’s my orders Squeak, Don’t go anywhere – go to the next step in your music. Play more, post more and send in more of your music.

Life is good, John C.

No one can make you stay against your will, but here's one request to ASK you to stay. We all get "testy" from time to time, but we can get through it.

In my new job as a school music teacher, our school's mission statement is to "Engage the Heart and the Head BEFORE we teach the brain"
It makes sense in life too - cry, scream, take a walk, whatever you need to....(like Boo says) to cool down, then stick around and let's see if we can come up with something positive here.

My new motto is:

No complaints - only solutions.

Sit tight, my friend - we'll all sail through this with you.

I just cam back from vacation and read this post. Squeak, I consider you a friend. Every time you send me some of you compositiions, I always like them. I appreciate your posts as well.
That reminds me. I had a problem with my new PSR3000, which I thought might be a hardware problem, and you correctly suggested I move the mod wheel. Barabing. That was it. I am so happy it's not a harwarde problem.
I love the Zone.
