Wow, another great version! Excellent work, Tony!
Who would have thought that this song would bring out all these great singers?
Next?
An aside...I still remember my first exposure to this song (don't ask me why). It was a Patridge Family episode back in 1971 (is that dating me?). Can you believe it? I found a video clip on the net.
Wow....Thanks guys.....I posted it for Scotty seeing as how San Francisco is his home town..it is an old recording, recorded in 1979 in New Milford NJ and I thought that I would share it.....I will share a few things I did in Spanish recorded in 1998 in Merdia the capital of the Yucatan... thanks again to all.... Tony I can't seem to open the link it's dead. I will try from home tonight to give a listen. Small world I have family in New Milford, NJ. She wasn't living there in 1979. But lots of the other members of the family lived in Dumont and Cresskill in '79. In fact New Milford was a short walk from where they lived in Dumont.

Oh Tony,
That is a special song for me and it made me cry (happy memories)! My deceased husband was from SF and we spent many many happy vacations out there. You put the class and heart of the city in that song. Thanks so much for sharing! Made my day!

Tony, your rendition is a truly a classic presentation. Bravo. I especially loved the sound of that real orchestra playing behind you. No commerical midi backing sequence (including Tune-1000) or auto accomp mode keyboard (for that matter) comes close to sounding like this.
As a life long San Francisco Bay Area resident, I'm especially moved that both Tony and theWolf (Heikki) decided to record & share their personal rendition of my city's official song.
As I drove across the Golen Gate Bridge today listening to both Tony & Heikki's SF song renditions on my iPod, I have to admit to having to wipe away a few tears from my eyes, as I took in the majestic Pacific Ocean on my right, and the picturesque SF skyline on my left. I feel both proud and fortunate to be living in one of most beautiful places on earth, and invite everyone to visit here one day. Many thanks again to both Tony & Heikki for your music. - Scott
Thanks Scotty....I just posted another I found plus a couple of Spanish tunes I recorded here in Mexico in 1998....the other is a Sinatra oldie.... check it out.. Tony Rome

Tony:
Maybe you can clear up a rumor I heard years ago. I've heard it said that the reason there is so many Tony's in the states ,is because 100 years ago when the young men were sent by ship to the states from Italy, they had a stamp that they stamped each one's forehead with and it said
Ready.........TO: N.Y. and the dumb immagration people wrote this as their name.. ......Pose
JUST Joking...

Pose....You may have meant it as a good humored joke but in reallity, it was the truth...many people that came from Italy way back then had it that way T.O.N.Y. meaning to NY for the non English speaking Italian men...the slang "WOP" as referred to Italians was when the imigrants that didn't have papers in order were placed a sticker on their chest W.O.P. meaning "WITH OUT PAPERS" this is where the slang WOP came from.....a litle bit of history, or better know as "NICKEL KNOWLEDGE" hehehe Tony Rome

Great vocal performance Tony. You really nailed it. And the musical instrumentation also is very tastefully arranged and performed as well. Thanks so much for sharing that with us.

It never ceases to amaze that we all live on what is a very small planet really! because Tony mentioned there Gilbert 1988, the one and only Hurricane I ever experienced and that was only one of the lesser ones but I don't want to be in one of those ever again. My heart goes out to all you good folks who take Mother Nature in her full force. OK Tony, now for your Spanish songs.I am sure I will play them many times. cheers Eddie

Mighty Fine work Tony, We loved it. San Francisco is that smaller town just north of us about 40 miles. We managed to outgrow that town because they ran out of room to grow and we are still growing. San Jose is now over a million population, the third largest city in California and the 10th largest in the US. In fact it is now too large and we need a new song to be titled, "Do you Know The Way Out Of San Jose" Tony, when you get your building back together maybe you can work on this new theme song for San Jose. You really do a great job, The orchestra arrangement was fine. Thank you for sharing. I will be watching and waiting for some more of your work Best to you and yours, Bebop
Wow....thank all of you great people...I'm at a loss for words with all of the praise you are bestowing on me....it means a great deal to me that you as musicians and entertiners accept my labor of love, my work in music has been my life for many years and I will be leaving this legacy to my children again, thank you all so very much.....
