I have not demoed the PSR 3000 yet but I was wondering about two things: Can you trigger the arranger functions with the RH while playing LH bass? Can you edit the styles on the 3000 (like on the Tyros, etc...)?

Yes. the PSR3000's 'style editing' features are identical to the Tyros and accessed via 'style creator'.

Is there a "full keyboard" mode where the entire keyboard can trigger the arranger functions. It's like playing the piano, I believe...my old technics has it and the rolands and korgs do as well. Come to think of it, solton does too. (In fact solton has the right hand triggerring capabilities, too, I think.)

Will that work with sounds layered acroos the keys?

Are there any keyboards - other than solton -that allow RH triggerring?

Korg Pa80, you can trigger both left or right hand and full keyboard.

Yep, the PSR3000 supports 'full keyboard' mode arranger recognition, though imo, not nearly as well as Technics does.

The full Keyboard mode works just great for a friend of mine who uses it exclusively. I believe it's just a matter of what mode you feel comfortable with.

If you play LH bass, you forfit the arranger features.....which is precisely WHY I make that choice much of the night. When I play bass ... all I need is drums and chords to back up my vocals. When I call on the whole "ensemble" .... I use what I'm given from the arranger and just chord over top with the RH to make it my own.

I have the yamaha PSR8000 (still) You dont have to lose the arranger function by playing the bass in the left hand. A compromise is to mute the accomaniment bass, split the keyboard and transpose the left hand side of the split down an octave or so. Select a basss sound for the left hand .You can alter the way that the accomaniment follows the chords you play so that it triggers on the chord that you are playing. It takes a little experimenting to find the setting that suits you best but i have found i am able to play nice funky bass patterns with my left hand and chords with the right and still maintain the arranger function.

UD - so when you play LH bass and just use drums, have you sequenced the drums or do you use the internal pattern pretty much as it comes?

Spalding - how then are you triggerring the arranger - with the right hand or left? Does your approach translate to the 3000?

I use preset drum patterns when I play manual bass. I fail to see how you can trigger arranger featurs with single notes, unless you only play in major keys all the time and have simple, 3 or 4 chord songs.
Yamaha's priority method of LH arranger triggers will only allow major chords from a single note. Most songs I do, except for the simplest R&R or country, have at least a few variences to them.
