In my MOST humble opinion it is the technics kn6000... ..but ALAS, it has onboard speakers, so I guess for your use, it is not perfect!!! t.

Allow me to take it to the 'next' level and say it's: "MY TYROS" specificly , cuz only it includes all of my personally tweaked setting: from custom MusicFinder song database to custom Regs, syles & voices. - Scott

There are only two top arranger keyboards with 61 keys and no speakers: Yamaha Tyros Generalmusic Genesys Pro
The choice is personal taste as to which one you like the sound of but the Genesys does have some features not found in the Tyros:
Out of the box the machine comes with a hard drive, CD drive for playback and recording. 32 track vs 16 track sequencer sampling (not available on Tyros) Hard disk recording of audio inputs (not available on Tyros) semi weighted keyboard feel
Tyros has 128 polyphony vs 64 for Genesys Tyros has color screen
Almost all other features including vocal harmonizer, sound editing, performance memory, music assistant are the same type.
It becomes which styles, sounds and operating system you like better.
I sell both and people love both keyboards.

I was thinking to buy SD1plus(it's big like 61 keyboard, very good sounds especially drums) BUT heard some bad things about OS...

Genesys Pro is about $3500.00 at my store and the Tyros is around $2700.00. Remember though that you get a hard drive, CD burner and sampler on the Genesys which would account for the difference in price. I do wish the Genesys had a USB port though. It has a to host port type interface like the older Yamaha's had before changing to USB George Kaye Kaye's Music Scene Reseda, California

Wow, 800 $US for a HDD, a CD-RW (or only W?) and a sampler??? Hmmmmm,...what sampler is it? I think it should have a minimum value of 700 $US...

I'm still learning how to get the most out of my new Yamaha PSR3000, but so far, I love it!
Mute the speakers with a jack in the headphone outlet ... But if you don't like the looks of the speakers on the keyboard... Replace the speakers with tip trays. Thats right... His & Hers tip trays and when you play out... see if one gender tries to out-do the other.

Ketron and Generalmusic keyboards do not sound the same. What you might have seen is that there is a distibutor in Germany who's company name is "Solton". Solton used to be the brand name Ketron keyboards were known as. You would see on a Ketron keyboard a large name "SOLTON" with a smaller "by ketron" below it. This is because Ketron made keyboards for this German distributor with the distributors name "Solton" on it. A few years ago, this distributor decided it wanted to sell Generalmusic keyboards as well as Ketron keyboards and so Ketron stopped naming their keyboards Solton and only put the Ketron name on them. Generalmusic took their Genesys keyboard and called it "Solton SG1" which confused a lot of people because they thought Ketron was making this keyboard and not Generalmusic. However, it was really a Generalmusic Genesys with the distributors name it wanted on it. This is really confusing, I hope you understand. George Kaye Kaye's Music Scene Reseda, California

I too wondered what the history was on those companies. When I was thinking about getting back into midi-accordion, I was looking into the sound/rhythm modules from thoses companies. They were pretty nice.
By the way, George... Thanks for all your help on the PSR3000, answering my email questions and getting it shipped out to me as quickly as you did. I appreciate it.

Ed and all of my valued customers here at the Synthzone, I appreciate all the business you have given me over these many years. I have made so many good friends both on the phone, in person and over the internet because of you all. Your support has allowed me to grow my arranger business and become known all over the world and that's amazing for a small music store in Southern California (and I don't even have a website!). It always amazes me when I receive a call or email from someone across the pacific or atlantic ocean calling me with questions or to place an order because they read my posts here on the Synthzone. Thank you all! George Kaye Kaye's Music Scene Reseda, California
