Now if only Korg would include:

1) a decent sounding acoustic piano

and

2) Pro type 'rootless' style jazz chord recognition

only then would I seriously consider buying it.

Scott,With my newly purchased Triton Studio, I can tell you that the Piano's have bettered significantly over previous korg models (inc PA80/synths etc) As for the: "Pro type 'rootless' style jazz chord recognition" ...well, with Operation Version 2.0 for the Triton Studio, they almost made a new keyboard out of it, So anything is possible Scott

I could live with the Piano sounds, they are what they are, and I edited the ones on my PA80 to make them a little more to my liking. I didn't think the ones on the new PA1x sounded all that different, and for my ears they really haven't changed all that much since korg first using samples with the M1.

They key feel of the PA80 is very much to my liking, ( though it wouldn't be my fiorst choice for serious piano emulation anyway ) and I don't expect much to change here.

I wonder what it will sell for. I guess I'd say I'm somewhat interested, provided I could get decent value for my PA80 and depending upon the value of what it would be worth ( to me ) as an upgrade.

Renig: My apologizies for coming on so strong with my opinion (only) about the Korg piano samples. Tony (Jupiter5), welcome back, where have you been? I do hope you're right about the piano sound improvements on the new PAx1 61 note board w/ speakers. If they really are better, and Korg update their chord recognition table to support the same type of pro jazz chord recognition that Yamaha, Ketron, and Technics already include, than I'll probably have my credit card out to Korg. I've actually been a LONG time Korgie fan as my first elec KB back in my childhood youthful school days was a Korg 707 FM synth, followed later by the Korg 01/WFD. I really miss many of the fantastic 'Korgy' sounds so welcome the idea of another Korg keyboard someday (soon?). - Scott

Gotta agree with you renig.
In my solo gigs I use an older model SP100 strictly for piano, and I love it's sound and feel. What people have to understand also is what you're running the keyboard through makes all the difference in the world. Take a top of the line Roland, Yamaha, whatever...run it through some Radio Shack garbage amp or PA, and it's gonna sound like crap...whether it's a Roland, Yam, or Korg.

Hey Scott, no offence taken. It's all the good back-and-forth banter that keeps all the good folks here on their toes (provided we don't try to play our keyboards with them, eh?).

What excites me about the 61-note PA1X is the fact that it'll probably have most of the goodies its big brother has, and that its price is going to leave the wallet feeling a lot less violated. The 76-note pro version here in the Great White North is priced at $5049Cdn (that's $3900US) and is out of my range.

Scott ... I love your input here but you said the same about the SD1 !!! They put Rootless chord option in it and you went for the Tyros!! You are a hopeless Yamaha affectionado (did I spell that right!!) Ha!!!!!!!
