Does anyone know if the Roland EXR7 will do Chord Sequencer Recording like the Roland G 600-800-1000 or know of ANY of the newer intelligent arrangers that will? I use this function live and really miss it on my Roland G70

Amen, brother Flog........

The chord sequencer records just the NTA chords, and loops on the fly, rather than after the fact. Is there ANY arranger out there that does this trick?

And Roland, if you are listening, what on earth made you drop this absolutely INDISPENSABLE tool??

What point is there even having a bend lever on the left if you can't EVER take your left hand away from playing chords. PLEASE reinstate this rudimentary feature..........

I'm going to keep bumping this............

Doesn't ANYONE appreciate the ability to take your left hand off the chord chores, and play two-handed?? Why are we not ALL demanding this (actually, pretty simple to implement) capability, no matter what manufacturer's arrangers we use?

Imagine the scenario.......... You play the intro to the song, and in the bar before the first verse, you hit Record. You then play the first verse and chorus by hand, and in the bar before the second verse, you hit Play. Now the Chord sequencer will play the chords for you (and you can still change variation and fills to give it a 2nd or 3rd verse 'lift') and you can use your left hand for counter-melodies, or a better bass line, or using the bender like a madman, or even downing a pint or two!!

WHY ARE WE NOT SCREAMING FOR THIS FEATURE?

Especially Roland users who used to (up to the G1000) have this on most of their arrangers..........

I don't know about you, but I actually am capable of playing more with my left hand than just chords. I sure would like to be able to use it more fully, once again ;-(

Keep a lookout for the upcoming Ketron SD5. It has a feature called Riff, which has a similar (but different/better) provision.

Glenn, would you post with a more detailed description of this new feature? Will it do what I outlined in my previous post?

Diki, I understand it to play random riffs, simular to the Korg Karma...I don't think it will compare to the Roland Chord Sequencer..

Yeah, I finally found a description at a website that made it seem as if you played a couple of bars, and it would loop it, and then it would vary the accompaniment by analyzing what you were playing in the right hand - busier, simpler, louder, softer, etc..

Can anyone confirm or deny that this thing isn't capable of looping an entire verse/chorus..............?

Just a question............

Who of us here would like this feature (Chord Sequencer) on their next arranger? I personally think that, if you use the arranger as an arranger, and not just an SMF playback system or just interactive drums, this has got to be one of the MUST HAVE tools for performance.

Anybody else feel this way?

Diki, you do know that you and I are an minority...Roland is not going to listen to us or cater to our needs..

I also use SMF's as well as the arranger...and I want the chord sequencer..
It is especially a must when sequencing a tune, without knowing the feel you are looking for...

What I don't understand is WHY we're a minority.

I would have thought that everyone would 'get' this and help us shout out for what makes the arranger type keyboards actually enjoyable................

i am totally with you guys...i reckon being able to quickly record a chord sequence would be a tremendous advantage, and not just a "gimmick"...

But the whole point is........... you can do it 'on the fly'.

This isn't something you use (although you CAN) in advance of the performance - it's something you use as you play, either for whole verse/chorus structures, or little improvised 'vamp' sections, whatever you want. Anytime you feel like you'd like to use BOTH hands to make your performance better.

For me........... it's a no-brainer

I WANT IT BACK............
