synths read a song as one track. SMF's seperate the tracks. This is called Format 0 and Format 1 but I don't know which is which. If you have a program like Cakewalk you can go to SAVE AS and it will allow you to format the song.

Your O1/W will read format 0 and 1 with no problems at all. So I don't think that is your problem

When you turn on your synth does it say SMF on the title screen. Some of the frist 01/W synth did not display this and would not load Midifiles. If your synth does not you can get a chip installed that will sort you out. And away you go.

hmmm...I usually say "sequence to one track" and not "read one track". Does this make that big of a difference? Glad to learn something new.

Information on format 1 and 0 for anyone intrested.

If you load a midifile format 1 with less than 16 tracks into the O1W/fd sequencer it will load it as format 1. But if load a midifile with over 16 Tracks in size, the synth will convert it to format 0 without ask. It just does it. Thank god.

Smart or what ?...I have a Korg Trinity for just over 3 years now...and I would give my right hand to have my old 01W/fd back again. Just to have the best of both worlds.
