I took the plunge. After selling and shipping my VR760 and DC5 keyboards, I stopped at my friendly music store and made a deal for a new G70. The price was excellent and I even got a FREE silver V-stand.
I've only had a few hours to explore, but owning the DC5 has really helped me get up to speed on the architecture and OS of this monster. It is very powerful. They styles are great, the organ is excellent and the over all sounds are superb. I love the keyfeel; not stiff like a piano but definitely not the squishy synth feel either. It's very easy to become comfortable at this console. Everything is laid out so well and the touch screen is quick and responsive.
The only criticism I might have is the sensitivity of the left hand chords as they work with the arranger. This is the same complaint I would make for the E09 I own. The chords can sound choppy adn maybe be offbeat. But I think I can solve that by simply playing it more.
A big THANKS to Fran, Donny, Stephen, and ALL of you on the SZ who take part in the discussions and give advice and encouragement here. I didn' think I would go back to more arranging vs SMF, but I see where these Roland style and the power of this G70 could encourage one to play more and push the play button less.
