Please give me your opinion about that song I recorded.
It is a french song called "Le Méthèque", originaly interpreted by Georges Moustaki. It is a greek style music inspired song.

here is the link http://rapidshare.de/files/6075180/M_th_quemp3.mp3.html

Thanks for your comments

Stam......Excellent tune...{although I dont understand too much French } The Great "LIVE" sound, super vocals/harmony, and the overall melodic structure & balance of this beautiful ballad really shines through. Keep up the great work...Good Luck !!

BTW, what keyboard did you use to record this piece?

STAM, what I appreciate about your first song recording attempt is your simple straight forward playing style. No extraneous over-produced fluff (as DNJ would say), allowing your vocals & piano playing to remain at the forefront. Ok, please share what keyboard & vocalizer/mic was used? Keep m' coming. - Scott

DNJ, Scott,

Thanks for your positive comments and thank you for the interest.
This song is produced by my korg pa80, except the lead piano which comes from my roland fantom Xa.
I recorded the style on 1 stereo track.
Then added the piano on the second track and then the voices on 3 other tracks (there is no vocaliser here).
The voices were taken from a crown cm311A headset mic through the Pa80's VHG1, the korg vocal processor (for EQ and compressor).
My recording software, Magix music studio 2006 deLuxe, was used for mixing, EQ and compression. I use a EMU 0404 soundcard.

Stam.....Thanx for the info.....I knew for that live sound it had to be either a Ketron SD-1/X1,G70, or a Korg Pa 80/60/50 I just had that feeling

Hi Stam.

My congrats for your very clear performance.
I liked you care with effects.
As a parfum the effects are terrible if we insert more than necessary.
Waiting for other songs,
my regards from Brasil

Stam,

very worthwhile effort !! You have a warm voice with a fair reach (slipping a bit at times in the lower reaches) and your French is immaculate, but then I seem to recall you are from the Brussels area ??
The song of course is a classic known to most Europeans, not so much a pop classic as one of the "Chanson Francaise"..........
the keyboard.......what can I say being an avid Korg PA-80/50 user myself. Sounds very basic, but like DNJ commented very real.
Personally I would have included one or more
accompaniment tracks, but that's a matter of taste.
keep up the good work !!!
john

P.S. did you ever load my software into your PA-80 ?

STAM,

Nice, very clean recording, good balanced vocals and well played. I agree with John, though, and would have liked to hear at least one additional track with either strings, or a light touch of harmonica.

Hope Tony learns it in the next two weeks!

Gary

Thank you Gary for your comments.
I agree with you and john that I could have recorded 1 or 2 tracks more (a flute and strings maybe) but my aim was to see how this tune is appreciate in a more "live situation". So, I limited all the arrangement to the minimum, except for the voices that I recorde on 3 tracks because I haven't a vocaliser.

Thanks

Stam
