I've seen various ways. What have you found the best way to tie/secure your cables for transporting so they don't get all tangled and don't put undue pressure on the cable (by the way you secure it)?

Loose, even loops secured with Velcro cable straps. Wrapping cables tight, or figure 8 wrapping usually results in memory and breakage problems. I know a guy who wraps his 20-foot mic wire tightly around his mics. The wires usually break after a year or less of use, and when they're unwrapped, they take on the appearance of a Slinky coiled across the floor which creates a tripping hazard. The Velcro cable wraps are inexpensive and can be purchased at most music stores. I just order 25 10-inch Velcro wraps from www.cyberguys.com for $12.99.

First of all, use high quality cables, they will coil naturally and will not tangle..
I loosely[about a 12" loop] coil them , you can use a velcro fastener , this will keep them neatly together.

I still have everyday cables that I have used for twenty years..I have a couple I have had for over 40 years.

If you take care of your musical equipment..the stuff will last..

Home Depot (and probably other hardware stores) sells velcro fasteners too. They are black, and not of some snazzy rainbow colors, but work just as well, and at $2 for a package of 8 (or maybe even cheaper) are hard to beat.

I use large rubber bands, Walmart, several hundred for a buck or two.
I like the velcro straps, but I lose them anyway.

This is what I use:

I purchased these in orange from Home Depot and have not looked back. They are also great on stage organizing your cables so people don't trip.

Hello............You can also buy 3/4" wide velcro stripping by the foot in Walmart's sewing department. Then you can cut them to any lengths you need. -charley
