I heard the 1000 oriental at frankfurt. Not really my cup of tea, but the demo was very, very good, playing up tempo and disco style with turkish and arabic beats. Very different and quite refreshing from an arranger.

The PSRA1000 will not be sold in the US unless I can get enough of you to contact Yamaha and tell them how much you would like to be able to buy one of these here in the US. Because of UL and FCC requirements, it costs Yamaha and others, thousands of dollars for each product they bring into the US to sell. If they don't think there will be a big market, they won't sell them here. I've begged them because I sell many oriental keyboards, but they weren't successful with the older PSRA3 oriental keyboard a few years ago. I sold a lot of these, but not enough.
The PSRA1000 will come with different styles from all around the middle eastern countries. Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Greek, Iranian, etc. Quarter tone tuning buttons will be included on the front panel.
Please, again, if anyone is interested, please contact Yamaha in Buena Park California and tell them Kaye's Music Scene want's to sell these!!!!!!!!!!!

what exactly do you want to know. Basically, it's a psr1000 which has 32 notes of polyphony, a 16 track sequencer and style sequencer. The same basic sound set and look and feel of the PSR2000 but without the vocal harmonizer, mod wheel, some eq and 1/2 the flash ram size for storing your own things. You can play songs and styles direct from disk. There will be dedicated 1/4 tuning buttons on the front panel and I haven't heard any of the middle eastern styles and sounds. When I called Yamaha to find out when this product would be available in the US, I was told "Never". I'm really disappointed. Unfortunately, it's a matter of Yamaha not thinking they can sell enough here in the US market. I hope they change their minds on this one. I could sell alot of these.

It seems to me that GEM will control the lowerend oriental keyboards in the US. Basically, WK2oriental is very good. Except for the quality of non-oriental sounds and styles. If they can do something about it, more will be interested in them. What about WK1oriental keyboard? Does it offer better sounds and styles than WK2oriental? When will it be available?

George, as you may have noticed, as I see you read it, I reposted this to the Oriental Arranger Group, where hopefully it will generate some "mail" to Yamaha....

will you be getting the styles, Bob?

I wonder, since the oriental has all sorts of special tuning intervals, whether the styles will work OK on the other keyboards?

I would be interested in adding them to my Yamaha collection, if they work in the EMC converter.
