So it sounds like the Power 15's do the job for volume?

I use a PSR2000 like you've got, and two JBL 10S2's. It sounds really good. However, someday I may want to get something with 15's in them, I for me don't really see any point in getting anything with 12's, because if I go bigger I might as well get something that actually covers all bases.

I've had an interest in Barbetta, but in a sense they seem to be what my father used to call an orphan.

My main point here is I've considered JBL 15G2's and their Powered 15's. I've wondered if the Powered 15's would have enough punch or if I ought to get the 15G2s because of the extra oomph. They weigh basically the same. 'Course there is a little price difference. I see you can easily find new Power 15', for $399 and the 15G2's for $699. I am sure with a little shopping one could do better than that.

Then from what I can see, the 15G2's have a mixer where the Powered don't. So far I've just used the built in mixer on the PSR2000, but am considering trying a Behringer mixer to see if it really would give me more power and better sound.

I've also noticed in other threads that some of the guys have the 15G2's and that they turn them up only about 20%. It then appears to me the Powered 15's run at maybe 1/2 to 3/4 volume would be about equivalant.

I understand I would be better off getting the regular 15's rather that the sub's because. With the G210's or Powered 10's I could play out only with those if I choose. Otherwise if you have the sub's I would have to bring the 10's.

So, in a round about way, I guess I'm just asking for opinions about what might be the better way to go from all different standpoints.

I greatly appreciate any input, because the equipment I have now was chosen only after a lot of great advice from the SynthZone family, and I am very pleased so far. It sure cuts down on shopping time, and keeps me from jumping and getting something and then find out later that I could have done something better.

Those Barbetta's look awfully appealing, but two 41's used to do stereo will cost $1,400 to $1,800. There has to be more economical solutions with similar performance, no?

I bought the two 15-inch powered Eons NEW for $400 total. I suppose the G2's are most certainly better, but mine sound awfully good. Even outdoors I had power to spare.
The mixer is available with either model.
I'd love to have the Barbettas, but, as you said, they are not inexpensive.

Barbettas?

DonM: Where did you get the JBL EON 15" for $400/pair? Are they available now? I am looking for something for my Korg PA80.

Uncle Dave and I swapped speakers for a few weeks, then switched back.

EVsxa100...

Pros.. Great sound, crisp highs and clear overall sound for small to medium venues,
nice weight, ability to lay sideways with [optional legs]for monitoring also.

Cons...lacks that deep bass response due to the 12" woofer versus the Barbetta Sona32c 15", I was yearning for more on Big venues with the EV's doing 250-450 people,Difficult to transport & stack due to the odd shape, Covers are hard to put on quickly also,
Lack of mixer features, inputs, outputs,
3 band EQ, you have to carry a mixer due to lack of inputs, unlike the Barbettas which give you so many hookup options which is very convienient on small gigs using one amp..

It was a music store closing. At the time they had another couple of sets, but that was several months ago. I think they are closed now, but I'll check. If I'd had the extra money I would have bought another set!

The main thing with this company is you have 45 days to try it out. You can send it back if it doesn't do what you want it to. You just have to pay for the freight back.

If you call, talk to Dan Seda. He will give you better prices than shown. And maybe you could get something even better, or get the one mentioned for less.

I just bought two Barbetta sona 32 powered speakers from music 123. They were $565 each. No purchase tax and free shipping. It took five working days to get them but it was worth the wait. I was happy with the service,and I am delighted with the speakers. Thirty six pounds apiece,and a great sound. Incidentally I searched the web for Barbetta,s quite extensivly and music 123 was the best price I found.
