Tyros questions

After using the Tyros for close to three weeks, I have become almost totally comfortable with it. However, I have a couple of questions.
1. How can I set the microphone DSP effects to be "remembered". I want the mic dsp (#6) to stay on Delay - Echo - 25. I have tried saving it to registration, marking and unmarking parameter lock and registration marks. I have saved Mixing Console overall settings to User memory. No matter what, it powers on to the default of T. Delay and must be manually changed each time. After I change it, it will remain as long as Parameter Lock is marked. I can save the level, but not the effect.
2. I have the optional Tyros speaker system and it works well, except the overall volume isn't very strong, even when the Tyros volume knob is set wide open. The only way I've found to boost the volume is go into the Mixing Console, go to the overall e.q. page and at the bottom right of the screen, increase the "Overall Volume" boost. This does raise the output level, but I'm wondering if this is the only way.
3. I haven't read the manual about the Tyros speakers, but I'm wondering if any other speakers, rather than the Tyros ones, can be attached to the outputs without doing any damage. I know the sub bass is self-powered, but the two satellites seem to be passive and derive their power from the Tyros.
Thanks, DonM

This takes you to the window where you select the parameters for: Block, Part, Category, and Type. In addition to setting the 'Block' to: DSP6, Category to: Delay, and 'Type' to: Echo, you must also REMEMBER to set 'Part' to: 'Mic'. I suspect that you may have forgotten this IMPORTANT setting step and that the 'part' setting was set to: OFF by mistake. Once you've set the 'Part' paramater to 'mic', you should now be able to save your custom mic setting into Registration. You need to of course also remember to make sure the 'Registration Memory Contents': 'mic settings' group box is checked before saving to Registration Memory. I hope this solves your problem. Let me know. Scott

Okay Don here you go. I will give you the settings I use on my Tyros that will get it to "stay" for you in Registration to the "User" memory area. Of course my Tyros has OS version 1.20 so if yours doesn't then it may not work for you. I recommend you upgrade to version 1.20 first because there are bug fixes and other enhancements in version 1.20. But it might work with an earlier version OS too. Are you ready? Okay, this is how I got it to work with my Tyros. First thing on Power Up I changed the default Style from Live8Beat to Cool8Beat. That is my preference but you may want to keep the default Live8Beat. Next go into Digital Recording/Song Creator/Channel and scroll down to #5 (Set Up). Under SELECT make sure just the top 7 settings next to SONG are selected and ALL the other ones below them are "un"-checked including the Mic setting. Hit the Exit button twice to get back to the main screen. Then go into the Mixing Console/Effect/Type and set the Block, Part, Category, and Type to your liking, ie., DSP6 Part (Mic) DELAY and ECHO. Now without exiting the EFFECT screen push the FUNCTION button under MENU. Push "I" - UTILITY then go to Parameter Lock and make sure the 'Reverb Return Level' 'Mic.Setting' and 'Reverb Type' are "un"-checked. Hit the Exit button twice to get back into the EFFECT screen. Double check your settings then press the Registration 'Memory' button and choose a number 1-8 to the left of the Memory button. NOTE: Make sure after hitting the Memory button that "ALL" items in the Registration Memory 'Group Select' are "checked". Then press a number 1-8. Next, press the Exit button twice to get back to the Main screen. Press "J" 'Registration Bank' and then press 6 to Save your new Registration. Name the Registration if you wish and of course you'll have to Save the new Name too by pressing Save again. Double click your new Registration and then enable it by pressing the appropriate number, ie., 1-8. It turns red when you press it to let you know it's enabled. (You know that of course but I told you I'd give you a step by step procedure ). With the Registration 'enabled' turn off the Tyros, wait at least 10 secs. (to give it time for the Hard Drive to spin down completely) then Power On the Tyros again. Go into your Registration Bank and select your custom Registration. After selecting it, enable it and then go into the Mixing Console and see if you hit pay dirt. Best regards, Mike [This message has been edited by keybplayer (edited 03-20-2004).]
