when talking about the new KN7000 with my technics rep , he mentioned something about a NEW sound chip and expansion sound cards .

Can anyone who has seen the KN7000 explain their understanding of the NEW 7000 ? I haven't had a chance to find out yet ................ dano

as far as we know at the moment, more wave rom, and space for more add-on sample boards, with the existing sound cards also being suitable, ie the implication being the new samples are not already on the existing upgrade boards, and new upgrade boards for the future.

At Frankfurt they talked about new organ samples that include classic organs with the tab system in the screen, in the same way you have drawbars in the screen now.

The main new areas will be direct digital audio output via usb (no analogue stage needed from keyboard to pc hard disk) and flash memory card expansion for instant load with no hard drive spin up time, also a file transfer system via usb, and ?wave? and ?mp3? audio playback from flash memory. The detail we will find out in a couple of weeks.

Isn't there a term or "buzz word " to describe the new technology ?

DanO1,

Yes. Technology is technology no matter how you cut the mustard. You mention NEW technology. Very simple. Just spell new backwards and the question becomes WEN without the H. After all, with or without the H, when sounds like wen or visa versa. I don't remember exactly what part of the world they drop their (H'es) so this pronunciation would be very natural for them. I don't know how it is on the east coast but in the Chicago school system this logic is the norm. Therefore your question will be answered in a few weeks wen or when Alec spills the beans so to speak. The real problem remains, how am I going to shake loose enough money out of Ruthie to buy me one for our anniversity.

paint something... very true... and funny!

for buzz word, I suppose you mean the marketing blurb? in that case it is "digital networking keyboard" on the beta leaflet, presumably because you can download technics and midi files from the net and send them directly to the keyboard?

Uncle Dave I posed the question to Ruthie about what she was going to buy me for our anniversery. You know, I wanted her to have enough time to save up. Well let me tell you she painted me a mental picture of what she thought about that.

Alec you talked about buzz words. Well Ruthie gave me some words that are still buzzing in my ears. She downloaded some word files to me that indicated where she would send me directly and believe me it was't to the keyboard.

Hmm... I got a similar reaction when I told mine that I was considering looking at an SD1. Now she has no clue what exactly an SD1 is.. but she already knows it isn't cheap. She too painted a very compelling mental image which included the use of some new terms that are not suitable for reprint in a public forum. When I replied " hey I can't take the money where I'm traveling to in the next life ", she hinted faintly that if I buy another keyboard that I might be taking that trip sooner than I expected.
