I'm computer literate IMO, but don't know what Flash ROM means.
What's Flash card. The user memory in my Roland is stored, but has no disc drive, no hard drive, or battery backup. How is this stored?
My Yamaha PSR550 has user memory, but it has a battery backup. So it is kept alive, by the battery in RAM. This I understand
When Yamaha says the PSR2100 has user area, does this mean in RAM using a battery to keep it alive?

Thanks Mike, That was helpful. So they are basically eeproms, some are permanent, some are removable. Why don't arranger's come with a ton of these? Cost.

A good arranger should have RAM as working memory because of its speed.
Flash ROM should be used to store presets, user settings and even the Operating System.
Everything in Flash can be changed but will be stored without power or battery backup.

Yes, Flash rom is more expensive then RAM, but in my opinion manufacturers like Yamaha should not try to skimp on such important parts in keyboards that sell for 2000,--
