Get the Mackie.....BUT dont LAY it down sideways it will overheat & shutoff!

I have two Mackie SRM 450s but they are bulkier and far louder than I need. They are good for DJs but at lower volumes they lack clarity and warmth, IMO. I want to replace them with smaller, better sounding 10" powered speakers.

RCF components is no longer owned by Mackie and they are now planning to use B&C tweeters and Eminence woofers. They have been delayed in getting their production going in China. The SRM 350 is not expected to be shipping untill this summer.

JBL eonG2 10's are perfect for that application.

I had the FBT 4a's for 6 months, they did sound absolutely
fantastic, but after using them for 6 months 1 of them started
to hiss real bad.
I traded them for the Yamaha MS400's.

I own Yorkville 160's.The non powered version.Pound for pound the best speakers I have ever had Incredibly rugged and powerful for the size.They use rcf speakers and are almost immpossible to damage.

We rented those FBT for a live gig one years ago (picture at http://www.oggi.it/dfd/LiveSet01.htm ; second monitor is hided under the keyboard stand, on the right).

We rented them thinking about giving more power to our set, but, despite all our efforts and knob tweaking, their response wasn't linear at all: some (low) frequencies was too loud and some midrange disappeared.

The final result was that our sound wasn't our sound anymore!
So we used them as monitors for that night, and we gave them back to the store the day after.

I never used any of the other loudspeakers, but I experienced JBL model (EON G2) for another gig and they sounds wonderful.

Thanks, that looks like one 10" FBT powered speakers in the photo, how many were you using? I want to use two 10" powered speakers as monitors for my digital piano in small acoustic jazz groups (not very loud). Your guitar and bass amps look loud, maybe it was too much for powered 10" speakers?

I just purchased two Peavey PR15's from ZZounds for $129.00 each. These are trapezoidal 15" speakers in lightweight plastic with a huge horn and 300 watt capacity. They sound great when matched to my Behringer pmx2000 powered stereo mixer.

Give them a look.

My goal is to have small portable, yet high quality sounding powered speakers. I don't want to carry a stand alone amp, I did that for years. I am interested in a pair of 10" woofers with a tweeter size powered cabinets. I have 12" Mackie RM 450 speakers that are already to big and loud for my needs.
