Hi all
New to the site and have a Yamaha 900Pro and Tyros2. I want to explore the possibilites of using the Main and sub line outs to control portable stage lighting. So in effect all the midi files I use and styles could have different lighting cues. There is a research project at a UK University (Google search will bring up the reference) that shows what could be achieved is more than simple on/off messages. Any ideas?

You do realize that the main and sub outs do NOT send midi data, right?
I've heard of midi controlled light boards, and I don't see why thay'd be difficult to program. Good luck with that, and welcome to the Zone !

MIDI-controlled lighting devices can be found here .

What you may be thinking of with your idea to use audio outputs of your keyboards to control lights is lights that follow or chase sound... those are common and most music stores that sell lighting and DJ equipment can help you with that.
