.... Just got home from seeing Angelo (cam8neel) return to live performing after a hiatus of some time, starring in his one man "Barry Manilow Tribute Show", to a SRO crowd at the Castle Cafe in Providence ... With only himself, his PSR2000, and his speakers on stage, Ang had the audience in the palm of his hands from his nicely crafted intro tune made up of the titles of some of Manilow's hits (didn't copy yours UD, so the copywrite is still ok ), to the encore in response to the crowd's applause and pleading...
As my wife and I sat in our front row (thanks to Angelo)reserved seats, I could not help but think that as a performer in a lounge, or whatever, we handle all the 'stuff', sound level, loading midis, registrations, whathave you, without too much thought or concern, but when people have paid to see YOU perform, and you have to do all that 'stuff' and every note has to be right, man, that's got to be pressure... but Angelo was more than up to the task..
As many of you know, we had a major night club tragedy here in RI this past week, and when Angelo did a special number dedicated to the victims and their families, there was hardly a dry eye in the room ... Very tastefully done...
This was my first experience meeting someone from this forum in 'real life', and it was a most enjoyable event, and Angelo proved to be an excellent talent, and a very fine person as well ....
Salute, paisano !!!

Angelo: Congratulations on your performance and thanks to Tony for providing the terrific review. It sounds like it was a memorable show. I'm rather disappointed that you guys weren't able to capture a shot of the big event, or at least a shot of you guys together to mark the occasion.

Curious to hear which of Mannilow's tunes Angelo performed and which Yamaha styles were used for them. Angelo, did you perform your entire show at the keyboard or did you utilize some midi backup sequences as well? Anxious to hear details. Btw, what special song did Angelo perform in tribute to the victims of the horrific fire?

Scott

Thanks for the great review. Good people and good friends help make doing a show like that a pleasure. You're presence (along with your lovely wife) was appreciated more than you know. Thanks again! (and thanks for bringing the fan club along!)

So was I, Scott. I was unaware that the 'no flash photography' rule was in effect.

I played most of his popular hits like, Mandy, Could It Be Magic, Copacabana, Weekend In New England, Even Now, It's A Miracle, et al. I think it was 13 songs total (a little over an hour).

Angelo, did you perform your entire show at the keyboard or did you utilize some midi backup sequences as well? Anxious to hear details.

It was mostly midi files that I had cleaned up and polished. Some styles were used, like the movie Ballad style on "Ready To Take A Chance Again".

Btw, what special song did Angelo perform in tribute to the victims of the horrific fire?

The song was "Life Will Go On" from Manilow's 1980 "Barry" album. The words were very appropriate and very necessary...
