Hi,

Long time no see! Is everyone allright? I've not been posting for a while, but kept reading.

I'm a proud owner of a Roland VA-7 and styles are a hot issue for me and I was just at a site which was posted by eyrec. I downloaded an audio sample of Thank You by Dido and found it sounding very good. Especially because of the details in the song, but most important was the style. I've been posting here (a while ago!) questions about software for styles, but that was not recommended to use after all. But there must be a way to make good styles, right?

Does anyone of you make your own styles that are 'song-specific'? And if you do, what are the important parts?

I just made a style for 'You're the one that I want' from Grease. The drums do sound right, but it is missing something (I don't know what) that makes it sound canned, just like other styles which were not specifically made for the Roland VA series. The styles are so important to me because the VA-7 (just like the other arrangers) have a limited amount of good! and natural! styles and I don't want to use a good sounding style for every song. If I played in a band, this would not be a problem, but now it is.

Advice and tricks are very very welcome!

Regards,
Sander
