George, can you please check to see if the operating system is in ROM as the Tyros, or on a chip as the 2100.
Thanks,
DonM

I just called Mark Anderson of Yamaha Portable Keyboards at the NAMM show and asked him a few more questions. Some answers are not yet known because the models at the show are still prototype and not production models and he would have to check with the actual engineers regarding some more specific specifications.
First, the 3000 has a screen Yamaha calls a CueVGA screen where the Tyros uses an actual VGA screen. I don't know what this means, but there you go!
We think the operating system is in Rom and would require a chip replacement, but not positive.
We don't know if PC software will be available for editing the sounds on the PSR3000 yet.
There are the same 2 pedal jacks as on the PSR2100.
That's it for now.

I made a little Calculation correct me please if I am wrong, so the Korg PA1X with all the add on's will cost $4777, that is hard disk, MP3 player,Grand piano card, plus rest. I find this very expensive compare with what I pay for a New Genesys Pro in Europe $2450 and that is you have a Hard Disk + you can burn your CD's,MP3 +CD+WAV player, Sampler, flopy disk, LYRICS and Score display, Video Out, reverb and Harmoniser, very good sounds and styles.

In my opinion it is very expensive as we all want those extras, or call them extras on Korg but they come standard with Genesys.

Tony.

$2,450 for a Genesys Pro?? That's a great deal ziggy. Plus you get all the extras included?? Wow! I've said it before; if GEM had a larger presence in the market place they would sell many, many, more Keyboards than they do now. It's only logical that they would. I suppose market presence is not GEM's cup of tea because they seem to make NO effort (so far that I can tell) of getting their Keyboards into local dealers, ie., GC, Sam Ash, and online retailers, eg., music123.com, musiciansfriend.com, zzounds.com, etc. Too bad; not only for GEM but for Keyboardists in general because they're missing out on good quality GEM Keyboards because they just aren't available to the masses in large quantities.

Best regards,
Mike

Dear George,

Thank you for the review of NAMM. I would be interested in knowing whether the PSR3000's registration memory could call up styles that were stored in Smart Media or USB storage. Also could the Music Finder call up styles stored in Smart Media or USB hard drive.

Thank you,

Beakybird

George,

My Church would buy Yamaha A1000 if it became available. Thank you for the good work with Yamaha. Probably, we will trade our current keyboard for A1000 and pay you the difference.

George stated that the new 3000 has all of the Tyros styles, plus more. Wonder what's been added in the "more" part?
