This forum works nice, has a good lay-out, not especially nice, but it's working quite well. A forum for me should be easy and the most important thing; FAST to work with. So the only improvement for the software in it's current state would be a 'login' option so the password is not required everytime.

Nigel, I don't doubt your professionality at all, but if you're thinking about changing the software, I'm willing to help. Got some experience with this and even can write my own forumsoftware if I would like

Sander, you shouldn't have to be entering a password everytime. It sounds like you don't have cookies enabled. This BBS sets a cookie and automatically remembers your username and password so you don't have to keep re-entering it. Check the "Profile" and "Preferences" links at the top of the BBS pages and see if you have that enabled.

What BBS software are you experienced with ? I would be open to setting up a separate test BBS to see if that would be a good future option. My main requirements are that it must have IP logging and an email based password system.

Well, I'm on board if we are volunteering expertise and time to setup a test board. I am currently running the Snitz 2000 forum and it's easy as pie and very functional and most importantly; it's FREE!!!
http://forum.snitz.com/

Check out: http://www.shallowsband.com/forum/default.asp

There are so many sites that use this forum software. The only problem is, it is written in ASP and I see your site only supports CGI.

It would be cool to test some new software

kbrkr: so, basically we can create another synthzone for free ? It looks cool and I might just do that.

How do you pay for the bandwidth for the people loggin in , etc ? I assume snitz is your own creation.

I Have had a live chat room on starchatnet for years. About a year ago I opened up another room for forum members and posted this info on GA and Technote forums. Only one person had any interest and never followed through.
This room can have an unlimited number of people in it who can chat, play music, swap music files, etc. We have used it and enjoyed it for years. My rooms on Starchatnet are #MIDI, #MIDIOTS and #TECHNICS KEYBOARDS.
I don't think there is any interest in chat rooms amongst this group Nigel

Oh, No.. I can't take credit for the Snitz forums. That was created as an Open Source project; many developers worked on it and it's part of the Public Domain.
