I was so knocked out with Chis Valenti's version of "Lovely Day" he posted I thought I'd learn the song as the new S900 style he used seemed perfect for it.

Anyway I fooled aroung and recorded it and have posted it here
http://www.4shared.com/file/21813180/bf356ab0/Just_the_2_of_us.html

I can't sing like Chris but I was reasonably pleased with this. I'm really an instumentalist but had to start singing in order to get the gigs.

Just for info, I recorded the style and vocal in one shot (no right hand)

Then did a second track with a sax over the intro and sax and flute solos for the last two choruses and chucked in some vocal replies. The output levels go up and down a bit and I fluffed a few words and chord changes but I only record things once as I'm pretty lazy.

Criticism welcome cos I find it hard to be subjective when I listen to myself - so I tend not to.

Thanks for listening if you do - Keith (KFingers)

I liked it overall. One thing you might try is to raise your key, as your range permits. It seems too low for this song. However, that's just my opinion.

I really enjoyed this one, Keith.Thank you! Great sax and flute and I like your vocals as well. I'd be pleased if I could sing even half that good.

Hi Keith,
thank you for sharing. Very enjoyable indeed. I am curious as to what s900 style was used. I'd like to try this song as well and agree the style seems perfect for it.
Don't stop singing. You have a gift and should be using it.

Hi Keith,

I liked your version very much. Your vocal sounded good and you have a unique voice. I think you can sing alot of different styles of music.

Take care,

Chris

Nice work. Did you play the sax and flute on the keyboard (which board)? Nice jazz licks.

Your voice has GREAT potential and you will really get in to singing now. You already have your own style - kind of soft and raspy (very nice). I have a feeling you have a good voice range too

Keep up the good work.

NIce stuff for sure. I paricularly like the vocal section where you did sang "Just the two of Us, followed by what sounded like another person(s) answering your " just the two of us>"

Keep up the good work.

Hi Keith,

Excellent throughout...exceptional arrangement with fine sax and flute solos.

Good job Keith! The instrumental solos are worth waiting for. Vocals are good too. Since you recorded the entire song, I might suggest that your vocal inflections should change and build as you progress through the verses, but what I heard was fine and I would enjoy it had I heard it live.
As far as raising the key, yes I would agree you could afford to go up a few steps if you are comfortable doing so. I know that might change the whole character of the solos if you change keys, but try transposing first and if you like the higher key then you can work on raising the chords. Keep up the good work.
