I own PSR9000 and VA-76 and can't prefer one of them. I use both as two manual instrument for home entertainment live performance. Autoaccompaniment of VA-76 is great and vivid and have morphing of styles (that is GREAT), and Varyfrase but VA have sounds that impossible to listen for me. It’s mean no solo (due to quality of sound) and pads (due to absence of this functionality) on VA. Solo and pads I get from 9000 -- and thus have the best of both worlds.

It is very convenient for me have two autoarrangers -- to my purposes it is no need too much programming before using both due to one touch settings. I have to pick the style on VA and the same style on PSR -- and then I enjoy perfect match of style and soloist+pad parts (even 4 simultaneously due to PSR one touch settings). If it appear PSR but mere synthesizer, it could be difficulties in preprogramming voicing and arpeggios for each style -- too boring for me.

I think that I would change PRS9000 for any instrument with great sounds and pads but with no autoarranger -- and use autoarranger only on VA-76 and have patience to listen bad sounds of accompaniment parts of great quality and variety. As soloist+pad instrument I think I can use karmafied Triton of Korg Karma -- or Motif ES (both for great pad function). But I am afraid of 1) too much programming to match styles of VA with voicing and pads of workstation and 2) adding an external set of amplifier and loudspeakers (now I use PSR for that and use "effect loop" input of PSR to VA main output. I am playing only at home and compactness of setup is important).

I like the sounds of the KN7000 better than those on the 9000 Pro. The organ sounds on the Technics are quite a bit better IMO and are much richer sounding. The 9000 Pro's organ sounds are certainly the best Yamaha has to offer on their arrangers but I don't think they beat the KN7000. Of course YMMV.

I fully agree with you keeping equipment that is still extremely useful but has lost resale value. It is more valuable to keep instruments to use than to get a few $s on the second hand market. It is only worth selling when you can get at least 50% or more of your original investment back. Otherwise keeping them is the most sensible option.

I see you are based in Sydney Australia. I recorded music around NSW back in the 80s and spent some time at EMI studios in Sydney and stayed out in Whale Beach commuting into Sydney each day. Great place but I hated the traffic driving over the bridge in the mornings.

Hi Nigel,
the traffic hasn't improved across that wonderfull old bridge. You certainly wouldn't recognize Whale Beach anymore Million Dollar plus mansions out there now ( super trendy), no longer the quiet holiday resort area it was in earlier years.

I want to thank everyone for the great feedback on the 9000 PRO. Having two top arrangers now appeals to me more then ever.

I have found a B stock 9000 PR0 for around 2200 with full warranty - do you folks have any opinion on that deal.

How far are you from NSW I am a distributor for a software product from your neck of the woods. I've had a long enjoyable relationship with your countrymen.

I think that Europe and Australia have a totally different electrical output then we yanks have. Otherwise I would probably buy yours. I have found a B-Stock for 2200 US which I may bite the bullet for.

I called 123 andthe best price was 2700 which is for new in the box and is better then most. So far it looks like I will go for the B-Stock but will still wait for a while - Thanks for the heads up
