I'm looking for a small mixer and don't know much about them. I know a number of you use the Alesis MultiMix 6FX 6-Channel Mixer with Effects and have had good luck with it.
Behringer has what looks to be a very similar unit Mixer
The Behringer is selling for what the web site says "Chump Change" $39.99 vs. $99.00 for the Alesis I'm looking for quality rather than price, any recommendations?

X Have a look at Mackie DFX-6 XLR Out, Stereo, you can send effects to Aux 1` for your monitor. Also Effects you select stay 'selected' when power is turned off/on

The new Behringer 1002FX with 24 bit effects, Xenyx mic preamps and British EQ has just started shipping. The old 1002FX didn't have the new, higher quality mic pre's or the British sounding EQ. For those not familiar with British EQ, it is the standard all mixers use for high quallity EQ. The price for this mixer is around $80 - $90. The 802 you linked from Guitar Center has no effects and only has EQ on the two mic channels and not on the line input channels. There is EQ on all the channels on the 1002FX. http://www.behringer.com/1002FX/index.cfm?lang=ENG George Kaye Kaye's Music Scene Reseda, California

George, The UB802 does have EQ on both the stereo lines. At least it did on the one I owned, and also shows it on the Behringer site. You may have mixed iu with the baby UB502, which does not have the EQ. Regards Keith
Thanks everyone for your input. I'm sure I can't go wrong with any of the suggestions, but so far the new Behringer 1002FX looks like it could be the choice. George do you have those in stock?

5 of the new model UB1002FX mixers were shipped from Behringer in Washington State to my store in California on the 29th of June. I should have them by Monday or if not, Wednesday of next week. I will be out of town from Wednesday the 5th of July till Monday, the 10th of July. It's the first vacation for me in 4 years! My wife and I are visited friends in The Denver, Co. area. The store will be open, my son John will be running things. You can call him at 818-881-5566 if you are interested in the mixer and he can handle the shipping and sale. I've just purchased a UB1002 (not the FX version) and that works fine, and is very compact. 2 mic, 4 stereo and also tape in. Only the Mic's have eq, and also input gain trim pot. The stereo's just have a +4/-10 level switch, and no EQ. All channels have a post-fade FX send pot.
The lack of EQ on the stereos doesn't bother me because I've got EQ in my PSR3000 and MU80 anyway.
I'm also now using a UB1222FX model for main PA; I think the FX unit is similar to that fitted to the UB1002FX. There's a decent selection of effects although a review I've read suggests that the effects on the newer XENYX verions are more "usable" for mainline use (i.e. vocals), however I've found a reverb that suits me so I'm happy anyway.

Steve, I am using the Alesis 6FX and it works really well ... I played a gig where all the A-V stuff was supplied by the hotel (of course I had mine in the car just in case) ... they gave me the Mackie 1202 and a couple of EON 15's ... really nice ... the Mackie is a real nice mixer, but obviously quite diffent in price ... good luck with whichever ... t.
