When I was young I didn't need any particular song to"make out",but for the masses, I always liked Lenny Welsh,"Since I fell for you"..and for olden days "Stairway to the Stars "...
Vince Gill - "Whenever You Come Around." Face of an angel, pretty eyes that smile... I feel weak in the knees and I lose my breath... When you smile that smile the world turns upside down...

"My One And Only Love." I have this with John Coltrane playing this (without too many notes Dave) from the 60's I think. His approach intonation technique and feeling on this tune makes my hair stand up. Johnny Hartmann is the vocalist.
But, some folks today are going to think Rod Stewart invented this tune and it was a great tune when Rod Stewart was a pup.
It reminds me of when I was 14 years old and trying to tell my Dad that Fats Domino had a brand new tune called "Blueberry Hill." My Dad laughed and told me Hank Williams or Hank Snow did that tune in the 30's or 40's.
My kid still thinks that group some 10 years ago invented "I can't help falling in love with you, and I know Elvis did it in the 50's or 60's and probably someone did it in the 30's or 40's. The good tunes just keep rolling around.
Back to Rod Stewart for all the pups here. All the tunes on some of his newest albums were done by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat Cole and humpteen others in the 20's 30's and 40's.
I still get embarassed when remembering that statement to my Dad. I was trying to make him hipper. Ha! Boo

Don Williams: "We Got a Good Fire Goin"
There's a storm rollin' over the hill And the willow trees are blowin' I'm standin' here starin' out the window Safe and warm I feel her put her arms around me And its a good feelin' I'm knowin' Oh, I've got a good woman and we've got a good fire goin'
We've got a feast on the supper table Bread for breakin' A blessing from the Lord for makin' me such a fortunate man The light of my life in the candle Her face a glowin' Oh, I've got a good woman and we've got a good fire goin'
CHORUS: So let it rain (let the rain fall down) Let it rain It won't do nothin' but kindle a never ending flame Let it rain (let the rain fall down) Let it rain til mornin' Oh, I've got a good woman and we've got a good fire goin'
Now there's a hard rain fallin' on the roof Coffee comin' from the kitchen I'm lyin' here listenin' to the ceiling on the living room floor I feel her lay down beside me My love is overflowin' Oh, I've got a good woman and we've got a good fire goin'
