Nard,
Am I missing something or.....out of the psr into whatever amp the system you are plugging into uses and that will drive the system speakers, not the PSR.

Nardoni,

Yes, you are right that there is not enough power from the PSR2000 to plug your 2000 into the speakers alone.

You need to plug your 2000 into the house mixing board console, which in turn goes into their house PA (amp) system and then to their speakers, OR if the house system consists of only self powered PA speakers, then you can plug your 2000 directly to them.

Hope this helps,

Scott

thankyou both, that explains things a bit better ,i understood that if you plug jack plugs into an amplifier, because there was a reasonable amount of power going into an amp from a keyboard ,because it has it,s own amplifier it could blow it ,and i didn,t know if you could plug rca leads into a p,a system, anyway that makes sense, cheers mike.

I don't mean to overstate the obvious, but there is NO power from the output of the keyboard. It will never power any speakers. You MUST use an external amp to hear the signal over the level of the internal speakers.

At the risk of sounding overly-cautious - be sure of WHERE you plug into, BEFORE ytou EVER plug anything in. Make sure you are certain of the system operation before you attempt to connect to anyone else's gear. You take a risk of ruining BOITH systems if you are not familiar with different gear set ups. Be careful, my friend. The lights on the tree should be the ONLY thing burning at this party !

That is EXACTLY right. NO power comes from the 1/4" or rca line jacks on the back. The entire power amp section is routed to the INTERNAL speakers and the HP jack. You are safe to connect to any other external amp with no trouble. Good luck !

1. Turn the channel on the p.a. system to which you will plug into all the way down.
2. Turn the volume on the keyboard all the way down.
3. Plug in, using the line outs. You can use the R and L, using two cables, for stereo, or the R(+L), using one cable. Or you can use the RCA outputs. If you use the 1/4" outs, the PSR2000 volume knob will control the signal to the amp. If you use the RCA, the signal will be "wide open".
4. Then, slowly turn up the volume on the channel you plug into. If you are using the 1/4" outs, turn up the volume on the PSR, testing the volume as you go by playing notes on the PSR.
5. The PA system channel may have overload indicator lights. If so, be certain you are not overdriving the channel. A little experimentation and you will find the right level.
I prefer in most cases to use the 1/4" outputs so you can use the keyboard volume control to adjust your volume through the PA during the job. Some prefer the RCA jacks, so you can control the PSR volume for monitoring purposes only. Your decision, but be sure you take the proper cables.
Also bear in mind that there is e.q. (bass, treble controls) on most p.a.s. I normal set them flat on the p.a. if possible and use the internal keyboard e.q. to adjust my sound. Also, I use internal effects (reverb, delay), and turn the effects on the p.a. channel off.
I prefer to have as much control over my sound from the PSR as possible.
Hope this helps.
DonM
P.S. I'm leaving now for an out-of-town job.
(Four shows in two days). Good luck!
