I just sold my PSR3000 on Ebay with my extensive style collection. I had a buy it now price of $1000, and someone bought it. But, the person who just purchased it less than a few hours ago is an Ebay newbie with 0 feedback.

What should I beware of? I had the option of money order for payment. I suppose someone who is unscrupulous can send a fake money order. The person might be screwing with me and just not pay, in which case I will have to relist. That's not so bad.

Does anyone have any experiences selling to people with 0 feedback. Is there any way to stop these people from bidding on your item?

If you’re using paypal this will give you some protection as you can see when the money goes in before sending.
Also read the paypal and eBay help files for other tips on making a safe transaction. (There is also plenty of help if you do a Google search)
Remember you were a zero feedback once, would you have joined if you new you would not be able to bid on most of the items. (An auction site has to expand to survive)
Hope this helps

Beakybird,
I sold a Keyboard for $1,675. The buyer sent me a bank check, which I was able to cash in a local bank affiliated with his bank. I had the cash 20 minutes after receiving the check. I mailed the keyboard an hour later.

Beaky,

In my auctions, I ask all bidders with Zero feedback to contact me first before bidding otherwise I will cancel their bid and accept the next highest bid. I generally will not sell to people with new ID's or zero feedback.

Also, I only accept PayPal exclusively. You can still received fraudulent bank checks and money orders. I've seen it time and time again. With Paypal, they will verify the address of the member and ensure funds are available in the account. It may cost more, but you can pass that along to the purchaser.

Hope that Helps
Al

When I get a money order I wait a few days after cashing it before I ship, just to make sure it doesn't come back as a fraud. I always ask one of the bankers behind the desk how to protect myself. The one at the desk not the counter. Even after cashing the MO can still come back as fraud and they will deduct it from your acct. I just don't know enough about convenience store money orders
In all my listings I now state either paypal or a postal money order anything else I send back. I've sold things over the limit of a postal MO and I just tell them to get two.

This person joined Ebay just before "purchasing my item." When I looked for contact information, there is no address and there's a phone number that doesn't work. The person's name doesn't come up in white pages directory or google.

I will relist the PSR3000 and hope this doesn't happen again.

How long are you waiting for payment after the auction? If its nothing but a new ebay member I would give it a week at least or it could slap you back in the face & he will claim your a bogus seller, leave you NEG feedback & report YOU to Ebay....

Beaky, I had the same thing happen to me; relisting is your best option, but file a complaint with eBay against that bidder's ID. If he is truly interested he will reply to the eBay complaint, if not you can relist safely.
I have taken to requiring immediate PayPal payment for bigger items. For smaller items I will accept a USPS money order or a certified bank check. I called my credit union on one money order; they did an immediate inquiry and found it was good.

I also state that I will not accept zero or negative feedback bidders, but that doesn't stop some of them and eBay doesn't give you power to automatically block those kinds of bidders. Recently, though, I've sold successfully to two zero bidders. Remember that we were all zeros at one time. But as a low feedback bidder, I always initiated contact with the seller.

Did you put a time limit on your payment? If not, you may have to wait 7 days to relist. Check the eBay guidlines.

This fellow tried to do an African scam with me. He couldn't even write proper English, probably from Nigeria. He's booted from Ebay.

I'll start over again.
