I know the PMH2000 has been popular among some of the SZ members. I have seen and used one. It is a good unit.

The PMH880S is a newer one by Behringer with more power and only weighs 19 pounds.

Carvin makes a swell unit that has dual amps for mains as well as monitors. FOUR 300 watt amps - 12 channels, road case ... looks great - never heard it.

Dave...guess what? I've got the Carvin...three power amps...8 channels. 20 lbs. Works great...just wanted a smaller back-up.

Captain Russ,
The Yamaha EMX212S is a new model from Yamaha. It is the smallest unit and it is stereo with 2 200WT power amps. They can be used as left and right or main and monitor. The new models are much louder than there older EMX series. They have built in effects including REV, Delays, Chorus, Flanger, Wah, etc. Two 7 band EQ's are supplied plus treble, mid and bass for each channel. Channels 1-4 are mono and channels 5 -12 are stero pairs.
The EMX512S looks exactly the same except for the 500 watts per channel and Channels 1 - 4 feature a new type of compressor gain knob. It is very easy to use. All the way to the left if you whisper you and scream into the mic you sound very soft and very loud, and all the way to the right, your whisper and scream sound the same! This is what you want a mic compressor to do. In gives you the ability to change your dynamic range easily.
Price for the EMX212S is $369 and the EMX512S is $569.
I stock both of these. I do not stock the EMX312SC which is 300WATTS at $469, but it is available as well. Most of my customers either want the 200watts or the 500 watts per channel.

I'm currently using the Behringer PMH880S with a 4-piece group and with solo gigs. I love this compact, light-weight unit. No problems, as yet. And now, at NAMM '07, they've shown the new PMP 1280S at 1200 watts. Price expected at $499.99. http://www.behringer.com/01_news/events_namm07.cfm?lang=ENG

Just picked up the small 8 channel EMX 200 watt Yamaha. Wanted to try it out, so I didn't order it from George...wanted to, but hated to try something out at one store and order it from elseware.

Looks Like it will be fine for a back-up.

thanks,

Russ
