There is now a new forum especially for OT chat. It is called "The Bar" and is a place where people can chat generally. You still need to be civil but apart from that the conversation can be about anything.

Drop in sometime, say hello and stay for a chat.

Pure genius Nigel but does it eliminate the problem on the arranger forum?

I was going to suggest that, but you beat me to it. Great idea, if I do say so myself.

If Nigel "LOCKS" off-topic messages in the arranger forum and removes/copies these messages to "The Bar" place as soon as Off- Topic messages are placed in the wrong forum I expect it will work.
I see this working very well on another bbs.

... maybe it's me but I never considered it a problem ....
We talk about being a family ... I don't know any 'family' that only talks of one subject ...
Sorry if I bothered anyone with OT subjects....

Bet this forum drops drastically with just talking rootless chords. They only work in a trio setting or a full rhythm section. In other words a band.

If you play an E G B D the arranger will never know that you want that to be a CMaj79 without the C (which is the Root) note in there.

Any arranger will say "hey he wants me to play an Em7", with out the root ( that the C note with the E G B D notes. I don't give a crap what Scott's teacher told him.

Now try and tell me that this is off topic and you're a nit wit? Ha! Ha!

So at this point in the thread I am closing it because there is no reason not to. If you have more to say .... take it to "The Bar" .
