Stayed up late enough to get a buy-it-now for $299 on a Roland EXR3s. Of course I just sold the 7s and already miss it. This is perfect for me, both in price and just messing around to determine if I'll ever go live again. My first assignment is to do my first song post down for my forum friends who've been so helpful. If I'm going to waffle, I might as well be frugal.

Fran, I'm gonna grow with this one

Hi zuki

Don't you have a PSR3000?

I don't understand. You bought a Roland EXR3 to replace an EXR7 which replaces a PSR3000.
You want to see if you can use an EXR3 to go live!!!!!
I would think the PSR3000 is for live work. IMHO.
This is how I would rate those keyboards:
PSR3000
EXR7
EXR3
IMO you keep downgrading. That's different.

Starkeeper,

Well, your opinion is just that The 3000 doesn't float my boat, as it may yours. The EXR7s was good and then I sold it for a profit My budget allowed for a fantastic deal on the 3s. The live thing can be done on any board if you're good enough

Hi zuki

Nothin' wrong with having some fun trying things out. I've done my share.I did it with a KN2600.(yuk!) I really wanted to like it but, sold that. I even had a local dealer suggest a 2 week trial with a Korg PA60 at dealer cost, with no money down. I wanted to like it, but took it back. I got a PSR3000. Kind of nice, but, no cigar. 'Course, what do you expect, I have a Tyros. They are not the same. I'll probably post the PSR3000 on ebay in the next couple of days.

What is very interesting, I went to Best Buy the other day and tried a PSR275 that sells for $139. I could easily play out with it. It only weighs 11 lbs. The rhythms sound just like all the other current Yamahas. The piano is outstanding. I'd probably use mostly the piano sound on this. I'm thinking of getting one just to have a "beater" to knock around with. But would have no problem at all playing live with this. They had a DGX505 also for $599. It sounded pretty darn good.

So, really, part of the fun of it is trying different things, if for no other reason than to test them out and just screw around with it for awhile.

Just my 2 Deutsche Marks worth.

Best

Hello Scott,

I know where Starkeeper's coming from It makes little sense for me to digress and finally go live, but......... If I were as talented as some of you guys, a top notch instrument, with all the bells and whistles, might work. But I sound the same on everything. I worked out a few songs on the EXR7s (somewhat cumbersome), but they sound great. It's a keyboard that'll keep you busy, which would be good for the audience. The 3 is smaller and lighter, but will sound the same. The key feel is what I like most. Whay not for $299 Of course I'd lay bets that I'll never play a note away from home.....very busy professional career.

Thanks for sharing.

I like buying/trying new toys too..
I just like to see what they can and cannot do..

I never buy a new toy to replace my primary, untill the side by side testing is completed and I am happy with the results[that is why the others are gone , and I still use the G1000]..

I think Zuki is having fun with the budget he has set aside...What we think is digressing is just Zuki checking out different models...he doesn't have to be concerned with a go to keyboard at this time..
Zuki, considering the keyboards that I am aware that you have had...the VA7 is the only one of the group, that I would have kept..

Raise your budget, and have fun with the PA1x, G70,Genesys, and SD1...That will really drive us crazy..

Hi Fran,

I do love the VA but just a little burned out after having it off and on for years. I believe the inexpensively purchased exrs3 will allow me to work towards a goal (getting my material prepared). Unfortunately, from experience, my keyboards tend to collect dust more than action.

I'm with Fran on the G 1000. I haven't found anything that feels or sounds like it. Being a pianist, I like the feel of the Roland keys. And any fewer that 76 keys and I feel like I'm playing a toy. I haven't tried the G 70 yet. Will have to see what that's all about.
