Claudiu,

The VA touch screen can be cleaned with ethanol, but don't let it seep in the upper fume or lower glass.

Clean the rest of the board with a slightly damp cloth. If extra dirty, use a mild detergent, but make sure to wipe with a clean, dry cloth afterwards.

Don't get the zip near direct sunlight, high temperature, moisture or magnetic fields. Don't use any cleaners, just a dry cloth.

OK, now that I answered you, YOU MUST tell me about your song posted. I'm dying to know.

what about oil.. ? when i'm on the stage and people look at my keyboard, they see the part with " VA76 |----------| Roland " that, i want it bright and like a wood desk...i'd buy some wood spray ..i'll try windex...but isn't the stuff written in white going to waste away after 100 "washings" ?

I personally wouldn't use Windex on any keyboard.

The only safe product I know of is Endust For Electronics. It is an anti-static cleaning and dusting spray that safely cleans PC's VCR's, TV's and LCD touch screens. Spray the product on a micro-fiber cloth and wipe the surfaces clean. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL, ETHANOL OR ANY OTHER FORM OF SOLVENT ON PLASTIC PRODUCTS! DO NOT USE OIL, EVEN SILICONE OIL!

Windex is fairly safe for everything, including the touch screen, but again, do not spray it directly on the keyboard's surfaces. spray it lightly on a soft cloth.

Before doing any of this, purchase a container of canned air, the same product photographers use in the dark room to blow dust from negatives. This is also useful for blowing dirt and dust from beneath switches, keyboard keys and out of speaker grills. Follow the directions on the can and you'll be safe.

Good Luck,

Gary

A damp soft cloth can work wonders. I am a lazy SOB, so I clean the keyb maybe once a year, and I smoke like a chimney.
A damp cloth, with a little patience, can do everything.
Oil is for food or for your car. Not for your keyboard.

I certainly would keep ANY 'spray' FAR away from the kb itself ... and always use with a soft cloth, as others have said ...
Now if you want the kb to 'be the brightest' you could always brush on some glue and then sprinkle some 'glitter' over the glue ...
JUST KIDDING ... JUST KIDDING !!! ...

Spray Windex on the cloth not the keyboard, it is harmless and does a good job[removing finger smudges etc].

Squeak now you tell me not to use Windex....after 40 years of use....BTW, zero problems over the 40 years with Windex...

You only have to use it periodically...most of the time i use the same cloth dry to wipe the keyboard..

I'm with Squeak on this one. Windex has ammonia in it. Ammonia and plastic don't mix. I ruined a friends turntable cover by spraying it with windex. Windex is for glass windows.

As a former va5 owner the roland va5 owners manual strictly states that ethernol is the only product u can use to clean the touch screen. I remember the manual also saying that u can obtain ethernol from your pharmacist

I put normal toothpaste (original white based) onto a damp cloth and clean the keys. It works fine so far.

I purchased the Endust for Electronics at Staples about 3 years ago and I still have more than a half can left. You only need a very small amount to do the job. You may also be able to purchase it from some online sources--do a Google search for it.

I have used diluted tooth paste to clean my customer's piano keys for the last 40 years, works fine. Do not harm the finish on a key, that finish keeps the keys protected.
First a damp cloth, if you need more tooth paste DILUTED.

Toothpaste won't mess up the keys. Just put some on a damp cloth and wipe on the keys one by one. Make sure the cloth is not too wet else you'll create bubbles all over the keys

After rubbing the keys with toothpaste, use another clean cloth to wipe the keys again. Smiles fresh at you. I've been using this method to clean my keyboard's keys.
