Hey guys!
I am sure that a lot of you had the opportunity to work or write together with the female vocalist in her early 20s.
I’m just curious what’s the funniest thing that you ever heard her say?
I personally heard a few good ones like:
“I want to be like Madonna but like …better”
“No my voice is perfectly in tune, I take music lessons! it’s your stupid computer that’s out of tune. May be you should get a tuning fork and tune the music”
“Can you make me sound like Britney Sphears on your computer there. C’mon do it quickly I know you can do it! Please!”

Anyway, if you have a funny story or a line about a female vocalist in her 20s – post it here! May be we’ll even come up with the top 10 list of things that young female vocalists often say in the studio. This should be fun!

PS
If you happen to be a female vocalist yourself – please do not get offended. This thread is going to be full of generalizations and possibly sexist remarks for which I apologize in advance. This thread is NOT about ALL young female vocalists, but only about a few.

Cassp,
You're probably right!
I'm dating a female vocalist myself. It does get a little scary sometimes. But as my dad always said "You have to make a choice and decide if you want to be a man or a chicken". His english is a bit funny, but he's right .
So go ahead and post.

Hmmm...
May be I should start a top ten list of things that scared guys say when I even mention female vocalists.
I should've notified everyone that this thread is not for people with heart conditions and post dramatic stressdisorders due to years of work with young and visious female vocalists.

No funny lines to report here..but I did a cassette project (yeah, no CD here) with a singer before. Paid me ridiculously low since she said it's for her 'ministry' (turned she sold those tapes for 12 bux each for 300 tapes)...anyway,

She sang off key many times, couldn't even start the song without me directing her, etc...and she got defensive when I asked her if she could read any Chords charts.

Her answer "I dont know. I just sing"

Here's the kicker: She got a Bachelor degree in music.

Scary.

That's a good one!
I just love it when they get all defensive.
This one time I was mixing a song and I had to solo a snare track...The girl rushed into the control room screaming that I screwed up the track and that now we'll have to redo everything again...She WAS NOT joking.
As soon as I tryed to explain what's going on she just went abe-shit and said "NO, I don't care, it sounds better when I can hear the music, doh't do that "SOLO" nonsence...."

Yap...studio work can be...strange .

Having a heart condition has nothing to with it, Ed. You NEVER know when you may or MAY NOT be speaking to or about a girl. I know Fran and I have each been misidentified at least once. Secondly, as much as all us guys might enjoy a good laugh, a public forum is a little different than a table at the bar. If we have any female readers (& I'm pretty sure we do), I'd like to keep 'em.

This is the best laugh I've had in a long time. I hope this thread goes the full route.

I'll see if I can remember any.

Scott lmao

Oh, Good! I was enjoying laughing at this so much I decided to show this to my fiance, Jen. She laughed too, but.......

She wanted to know if a thread could be started about the goofy things male singers do. Ouch! Good thing I don't sing.

All those years of singing in the shower
and I dare tell them to go and take some vocal lessons. How evil of me. I often feel like I'm preventing young and true talents from making it to the top.

I haven't really worked with any male vocalists. But if anyone here wants to post some lines and remarks about male vocalists who want to be the next Britney Sphears...go ahead and post.

I guess it all depends on the people you have worked with. I've worked with a number of female vocalists over the years and play in a band with a very talented lady now. They have all been extremely professional and generally have had fewer ego problems than many guys I've played with over the years. If you had asked about drummers then I would have quite a few more interesting stories. Not that I have anything against drummers either as the drummer in my current band is not only a great musician but a good guy as well. But back in the 80s I was in a band that had a rough time finding a suitable drummer and we met some "interesting" characters along the way.

Try working with a 20 year old chick who wants to be the next pop superstar...
As I said. This thread is NOT about all female vocalists, but only about a few funny ones.
