how do you people safely store your floppys without damaging the metal slider thingy? sometimesIf I stack them they lock under each other which can cause a big problem if it gets stuck inside the drive!!!! Do they sell single plastic sleeves or something ? or?

Hello........Lately I've been using so many floppies for my PSR2000 I have been careless and just leave them laying around all over. I do have several plastic file "boxes" made especially for floppies. Each holds 100. They make smaller or larger ones too. Many floppies are sold with a storage box as a bonus. Staples or Office Depot should have what you want.
P.S. Backup ALL your floppies on your hard drive or have a master floppy stored safely outside your home or office in case of theft or fire ect..............I eventually archive everything on a CD-ROM.

HI Donny

Oddly enough I have been having the best luck using the absolute cheapest disks I am aware of. A box of 100 for $19.95. I bought some on sale once for $9.95 for the 100. They have them at Office Max.

THese disks have the black flexible plastic instead of the heavy duty metal "widgets". I found that the real good disks with the metal slider thing are the ones that get caught and bend and then have problems. Any disk with the black plastic slider, if it gets caught, it just pops right back.

Hi Donny

The brand is KHypermedia. MF-2HD. They come in about five colors in the box of 100. Blue box. You also might want to check out their rebate booklet for all Office Max products. There may be a coupon in there.

Best

HI Donny

Yes, those are the ones. That's just the way the pic turned out. You'll find they are black plastic thingers.

Hi Donny,

This is how I protect my floppys.

I seal a long white business zize envelope and then put scotch tape along the seal.
I then cut it in half. Write the songs that are on the floppy and slip it in.
Cheap but very effective.

Each half of the envelope makes a perfect fit. I never had any problems.

My SD Card now in my kn7000 makes the floppys an almost a thing of the past.
I use it now mostly for downloading songs and transferring them to my SD card.

Once again Happy Birthday.
Alex

Hi Guys,
main thing is , keep backups. I had mine stored safely in disk boxes in a cupboard for about 3years ( I had a music break during that time).
When I ended up with a keyboard again, I got all my disks back out. At least 50% had corrupted files. Some were missing the odd file, some were supposedly unformatted ( these had lost my files altogether). Fortunately I had backups so I managed to save some of my more important files.

best wishes

Hey Eddie

Did they have a coupon this time? Why only $12.71? Maybe I should get some more now too.

OfficeMax had a coupon in Sunday's newspaper that you can use to get 50 free CDRs after rebate.

Not sure, DNJ, but the sale may end Friday or Saturday. Usually on Sunday they change.

I just bought a new computer from a California seller on eBay. None of his new computers come with a floppy drive anymore. When I asked how much for a new one ........... he laughed and said "No one uses floppies anymore, I don't even sell them." I had to install one from an old computer I had in the attic. ( I know you can buy new ones.........) Maybe most people don't use floppies anymore, but they must not play a Yamaha or Korg.

Charlie,

From what I'm seeing in the computer stores, floppy drives are now considered optional extras, which they charge you five times as much for as they're worth. Just another way to make a few extra bucks from an unsuspecting public. New floppy drives are available from most reputable computer stores and sell for about $15 to $25.

Cheers,

Gary
