What types of midi controllers work well with the matrix 1000? I have seen the access matrix controller on the internet but can't find one for sale. Do they still make these? Are they around? Would it just be better to use, say a Keyfax Phatboy?

OUR12....Well, the boxes you're talking about would be OK but I don't know as you'll necessarily get more benefit from the greater number of knobs/sliders as you would from a well-equipped keyboard controller. Don't know that much about the Access or Phatboy but you'd only really gain if you could assign them to send pressure, etc. If the 1000 is like my 6R you only have 3 levers and 2 pedals whichever controller you use. The modulation power is in the Matrix itself. Other possibilities include E-mu's Launch Pad (for extra nonkey things) and Oberheim's own XK controller which was made for the Matrix models (both discontinued so you'd need to hunt).mn

You may want to check out Kenton's Control Freak and Control Freak Studio as they both have programmable buttons and sliders (www.kenton.co.uk/). If you prefer knobs; you may want to look at Doepfer's site (www.doepfer.com) where they have a 64 knob unit that I can't remember the name of. I have not tried any of these but I am seriously considering one of the Kenton units to relieve the strain on my K25.

You could do better than try out my Patches for the Peavey PC1600 which allow you to program every parameter on the M1000 including the Matrix Modulation http://www.gozen.demon.co.uk/godric/godric.html
then click the synth pebble
