If you follow the link at Harmony Central to the Technics Web site, you will find that their Website has not been updated with the two new models. There is no email address at this web site and when I filled out their form about 3 weeks ago, they did not respond.

I played both the KN2600 and KN2400 recently. The price comparison vs. the PSR 1100/2100 is substantially more for the Technics boards. They both have "64" note polyphony whereas the Yamaha PSR 1100 has "32" note polyphony. The big difference between the KN2600 and KN2400 is the KN2600 has a SD Memory slot whilst the KN2400 has just a Floppy Drive. Also the KN2400 does NOT have a Modulation Wheel just a Pitch Bend wheel. The KN2600 has both. I noticed that the sounds on the KN2600 although good in many respects there are quite a few 'thin' sounding voices too, especially in the Organ department. Although you can tweak them to make them sound better if you want. Again, you will most likely pay "hundreds" more for the Technics boards as apposed to the Yammie boards. Some people might buy the Technics just for the sake of "Brand" loyalty. If they do, or for any others that buy one, they will get a fairly decent Arranger in the KN2400 or KN2600 plus if they splurge on a KN2600 they will get the added benefit of SD Memory capability that can not only store and play Midi files but 'Audio' files as well.

Best regards,
Mike

I haven't given up yet with Technics, still following up. They don't seem to be very interested in selling their products.
Yamaha, on the other hand, has an email address. I have emailed them in the past, and they have responded in 3 or 4 days, advising where their dealers are located. They have a dealer in Toronto that sells Yamaha exclusively. Long & Mcquade and Steve's music also sell Yamaha. Their Canadian website has detailed information about the new PSR2100. http://www.yamaha.ca/show_model.asp?modelId=1264&modelCode=PSR%2D2100+%28NEW%29.
Yamaha is on the ball - Technics.. Hello.. Wakey, wakey.

Mike I appreciate your review and the excellent review you did on July 8th. Your comment about thin sounding organs is very disappointing, because I love organ sounds. I would like to demo it for myself, but not sure if Technics will tell me who their dealers are.

Starkeeper,

A while ago there used to be a store on Bloor, called Remenyi (sp?) house of music, who were the Technics dealers. Also, since Technics do not set MSRP's their dealers can charge whatever the market can bear. Hence going to them is like visiting a car dealership. It also means that they may be more open to negotiations on price. I went to a local Technics dealer, who quoted me an astronomical "list" price on the KN7000 (soon after it came out), and then very quickly cut it by a third, seeing that I was about to turn around and leave the store. I have a feeling that had I wanted to really buy it, rather than just play it at the store, he would go down some more. This would still make it more expensive than the MSRP for Tyros (and I don't mean the street price), but since many Technics users have an almost irrational attachment to the brand (akin to the level of devotion seen among the users of Apple Macintosh), they may be prepared to pay some premium.

REgards,
Alex

If your interest is Technics, try Miles Music in Oklahoma City. They've got them all----7000, 2400, and 2600. I got the 2600 last week. Some great, fresh-sounding styles. Sort of a different approach for Technics. Very good sequencer. Easy navigation. Also, got the 2100 yesterday. Now, I wish I had my 2000 back!

Alex,
Good guess about a Toronto, Ontario dealer from someone in Phoenix, Arizona. Just gave them a call, they don't sell the Technics keyboards. Looks like they cater to acoustic instruments primarily.

J. Larry,
You have a KN2600 AND a PSR2100!!! Why would you want your 2000 back? How about a review of both keyboards.

I am a Canadian, and used to live in TO, until about 9 years ago, hence I remember visiting the store. At the time they were carrying Technics (I think KN2000 was top of the line then). I guess you will have to get in touch with the Technics Canada to find another local dealer.

Good luck,
Alex

Hi ,
I think we are a dedicated lot ( Technic Fans) We tend to stray on occasion, but we seem to come back again & again.
I've had korgs, rolands, yamahas, and if I could only keep one of the 3 I currently own, it would be the kn7. As great as the 9000pro & va7 are, they don't have the ease of use that the kn7 does. Great sounds, styles, sequencer & great style creation & editing tools & of course audio.
Haven't seen the 2 new kn's, so can't really comment on them.
But would I pay more to get Technics if neccesary "Yes". ( haahaa)

best wishes
Rikki
