I sold my XD9 to a full time player in Philly, and after 3 frustrating months ... he's calling it quits. He's got a tentitive deal on a swap for a PA80, but it's older than his and he wants a little more out of the Ketron.

Anyone want to swap/buy/sell/trade in this deal ...... give me a shout. I'll connect you.

Typical user complaints .... poor access to certain features and the piano & electric pianos don't compare to the Korg.
I never liked a Korg grand piano sound till the latest version of PA80 hit the streets. Now, it's very pleasing to me.
I didn't like the playability of the piano on thge XD9 either. The actual sample tone was nice, but it doesn't respond well in a dynamic context. It's very one sided.
The biggest problem is the navigation. we like buttons for manual bass, full piano mode etc. Standing up, as we do - footswitches are too clumsy.

"we"? as in me-myself-and-I? haha. I agree 100%, the navigation on Ketrons is something that takes time to get used to. I didn't want to spend the time either and stuck with Yamaha. Take the SD1, ... the sounds are nice, I like the styles (maybe I like them even a bit more than the Yamaha ones) but look at the buttons!!! They are all the same size and color and they're all over the place. Very cumbersome. Scary almost.

Get out! Are you serious? I stand corrected. How do you customize the colors? Sorry I posted misinformation earlier.

OK, I'll bite... fingernail polish? Magic Marker? Staples colored stick-um dots?

The other fellow and I share a similar playing style ! Manual bass is a STAPLE, not an option.

NO fingernail polish . Just new buttons that are a few different colors to help navigate better .

On my X1, I pasted different colors on the fill and intro/ending buttons. Don't know why they made it so black w/ black buttons?

It would be nice if Ketron would sell a COLORED BUTTON Kit so you can customize your KB to your personal navagational taste by replacing factory buttons with whatever colored ones you like.
EG: Fills..RED.....Styles..YELLOW.....Sounds.. BLUE.. etc, etc.

How about buttons that actually 'CHANGE COLOR' when activated (pressed), to display its operational status, as the Tyros arranger buttons do? Initially I initially thought the Tyros' color changing 'lighted buttons' were added merely for flash and glitz, but this feature is actually VERY useful for LIVE performance navigation.

This leads to another idea re buttons on the Ketron arrangers. How about Ketron offering buttons which also come in various FLOURESCENT COLORS which GLOW in the dark, so they would be viewable on a dimly lighted stage?

Scott,
I had a feeling that the Tyros was going to be dangerous to you...

yeah I like the glow in the dark thing.
Maybe it can take off by its self after the performance and loads itself into my car???
