I used the ROland CM-30 Cube Monitor amps tonight for a three-hour cigar bar gig. The place supposedly accomodated 100 people, but it seemed pretty crowded with the 50 or so who were there for our private party. I finally talked my partner into using them in place of the the Mackie i300's we normally use.

The worked just fine. I added my EV Sb120a sub to the mix and the sound was full and loud and clear. My guitarist loved them. He thought they were perfect for the room. I thought so too.

Of course, our music tends to get a little edgier as the night goes on. The CM-30's handled all the keyboard sounds, the midi files and vocals with no problem. These are solid amps, worthy of their Roland Cube name. I'm very happy with these amps. The sound was mixed thru a mixer and then into the cubes, but I don't think that had any effect on the efficiency or sound character of them.

I just had a gig of 50 people, also, using my two CM-30's. The results were great for the entire tonal spectrum, and the volume plenty at 2:00 o'clock.

Eventhough I was playing some "edgey" music, the lows were tight and carried well. The sound was so good, I might try them with a sub, for medium venues, as long as the sub doesn't get boomy.

I used my EV Sb120a sub with mine. It really filled out the sound and permitted me to use a brighter setting on the 30's. I unplugged the sub for the last song of the night (as the party-ers had left and the regular bar crowd was leering at us for invading their space) and it was evident the sub had added a nice effect to the music. BUT, I was pleasantly surprised that the 30's were holding their own and the bass was still in the mix.

I'm am really surprised just how good these CM-30's are.

Been using mine for a monitor for about three months. Great for that. I may think of getting another one.
